Job summary

BJ's Wholesale Club is seeking an Inventory Control Lead to coach and develop a team in one of our perishable distribution centers. You will verify inventory accuracy, reduce shrink, and maintain strong vendor and staff relationships to support efficient operations.

You will schedule shifts, monitor KPIs, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive continuous improvement while delivering reliable service to our members.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• College coursework or comparable business experience preferred.
• Experience in distribution centers preferred.
• Experience operating Material Handling Equipment (MHE) preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple requests and provide clear feedback.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with customers and vendors about items, inventory levels, and services.
• Schedule inventory team shifts and ensure coverage; maintain attendance.

Role Summary:

Lead an Inventory Control team in one of BJs perishable distribution centers. Provide coaching, guidance, and ongoing support to build team capabilities, promote engagement, and drive strong performance. Develop and improve methods and procedures to verify that we are maintaining an accurate inventory while also reducing labor costs and limiting exposure to inventory losses. Maintain key relationships with all vendors, customers, and team members related to BJs Wholesale and oversight for Inventory Control team.

Key Responsibilities.

• Lead, coach, train, and mentor Inventory Control team members to support their development and ensure consistent performance.
• Set clear expectations, provide ongoing feedback, and promote a collaborative, accountable, and positive work environment.
• Ensure inventory control accuracy and integrity.
• Cooperate with operations and other DC leaders.
• Maintain all necessary documents and records
• Monitor systems, key performance indicators (KPI), and safety to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
• Responsible for recall, quality control holds, and disposition of damaged product within the DC.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory agency standards as necessary.
• Oversee ABC Cycle Count program to ensure compliance and completeness.
• Account for any inventory losses/product shrink through reporting, root cause analysis, and effective communication.
• Collect/analyze data to identify opportunities for improvement in inventory accuracy.
• Phone, written and in-person communication with customers and vendors to discuss new items, inventory levels, services, answer questions and discuss concerns.
• Schedule inventory team shifts to ensure ample coverage to support operations.
• Regular and consistent attendance

Education/Experience:

• High school diploma or GED.
• College coursework, continuing technical education or comparable business experience preferred
• Experience in distribution centers preferred.
• Experience operating Material Handling Equipment (MHE) preferred
• Ability to remain calm and focused while prioritizing requests from multiple sources
• Ability to work concurrently on multiple projects in a collaborative environment
• Ability to provide clear and constructive feedback, coaching, and counseling
• Ability to apply strong math skills that result in identification of opportunities and justify action plan recommendations
• Able to read, write, speak and understand English
• Ability to accommodate flexible schedules to meet the needs of the customer to include nights, weekends and holidays
