Liberty Personnel Services, Inc. is seeking an Inventory Control Manager for our client in New Jersey. The role owns inventory integrity across raw materials, WIP, and finished goods, designing processes, controls, training, and metrics to support production and delivery.
You will lead a site-wide program for cycle counts, ERP transaction controls, and scope for continuous improvement, balancing availability with inventory investment while ensuring safety and compliance.
The Inventory Control Manager owns inventory integrity at the manufacturing site, covering raw materials, work-in-process (WIP) and finished stock. This role is accountable for designing and sustaining the processes, controls, training, and metrics that keep inventory accurate, visible, and positioned to support production, customer delivery, and service, while managing working capital responsibly. You will lead the site in building a culture of material discipline so every employee who touches material understands their role in keeping inventory accurate.
Assesses current inventory control practices across receiving, put-away, stocking, issuing to production, production reporting, shipping, returns, and scrap, then designs and implements SOPs and standard work that establish clear ownership and accountability.
Establishes and audits controls for all ERP inventory transactions (receipts, moves, job material issues, adjustments, scrap, and obsolescence) and for physical material movement, including location standards, bin labeling, controlled stocking areas, and point-of-use stock, so every physical move is matched by an accurate, timely system transaction.
Develops and delivers a tiered Inventory Control Training program for all employees who handle material or enter inventory transactions; partners with HR to build it into onboarding and refresher training, sets training requirements for ERP transaction access, and tracks completion and floor adherence.
Establishes and leads a formal ABC-based cycle count program for raw materials and finished stock, driving root cause analysis and corrective action on variances and setting accuracy goals by inventory class and location.
Keeps WIP accurate through transaction discipline and leads regular open-job reviews with Production and Finance to resolve aged, inactive, or out-of-balance jobs and close jobs on time.
Partners with Finance to plan and execute annual physical inventories and to support month-end and year-end reporting, variance explanations, valuation and reserve reviews, and internal and external audits.
Coordinates with branch managers to set transfer, in-transit, and receipt procedures so inventory is accurately reflected at Batesville and every branch location.
Collaborates with Materials, Sales, and Service on stocking strategies, inventory targets, and planning parameters; leads slow-moving and obsolete inventory disposition; and applies Lean and continuous improvement principles to balance availability with inventory investment.
Establishes site inventory KPIs, reports regularly to leadership on accuracy, value, turns, aging, and training, and champions inventory discipline by holding departments accountable for transaction accuracy.
Follows all safety, quality, and company policies and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.
