Job summary

Moon Valley Nurseries in Florida is seeking an Inventory Control Manager to oversee inventory across 5–7 locations, ensuring accurate counts, proper stock rotation, and strong organizational controls in a busy nursery environment.

You will conduct regular audits, manage cycle counts for thousands of live-goods SKUs, develop procedures to reduce shrink, and partner with Sales, Operations, and store leadership to forecast needs.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in inventory control, supply chain, or operations—preferably in high-SKU retail, distribution, or nursery/landscape environments.
• Maintaining accurate pricing for all nurseries along with plant/tree merchandising (bench cards, Info tags etc).
• Experience managing inventory across multiple locations strongly preferred.
• Strong data accuracy, attention to detail, and comfort with high-volume SKU environments.
• Proficient with inventory management systems, POS, and Microsoft Excel.

Job SummaryThe Inventory Control Manager is responsible for overseeing and maintaining accurate inventory levels across 5–7 Moon Valley Nurseries locations . This role ensures product accuracy, efficient stocking practices, and strong organizational controls to support sales, operations, and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate has experience managing high-SKU environments, excels in data accuracy, and is comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in a nursery environment.Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesInventory Management & ControlsOversee all inventory processes across assigned locations, ensuring accurate counts and proper stock rotation.Conduct regular audits, cycle counts, and variance investigations for thousands of live-goods SKUs.Develop and implement inventory control procedures to reduce shrink, loss, and mis-tagged product.Maintain real-time data accuracy in inventory systems, ensuring counts and availability align with sales needs.Identify aged, damaged, or non-saleable inventory and coordinate disposition or corrective action.Location Support & Operational OversightSupport 5–7 retail nursery locations with proper stocking levels, tagging, barcode accuracy, and SKU placement.Partner with Sales, General Managers, and Operations to forecast inventory needs and seasonal adjustments.Coordinate transfers, internal shipments, and allocation of high-demand plant material.Ensure best practices in product organization, spacing, and presentation to support sales readiness.Process Improvement & ReportingAnalyze inventory trends and discrepancies to recommend systematic improvements.Prepare weekly and monthly inventory accuracy reports for leadership.Use data to optimize ordering, reduce waste, and improve inventory flow between locations.Team Training & LeadershipTrain location teams on inventory processes, tagging standards, and count accuracy.Provide coaching, guidance, and accountability for staff involved in inventory movement or control.Ensure all locations follow standardized inventory protocols.Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills & Abilities3–5 years of experience in inventory control, supply chain, or operations—preferably in high-SKU retail, distribution, or nursery/landscape environments.Maintaining accurate pricing for all nurseries along with the plant/tree merchandising (bench cards, Info tags etc)Experience managing inventory across multiple locations strongly preferred.Strong data accuracy, attention to detail, and comfort with high-volume SKU environments.Proficient with inventory management systems, POS, and Microsoft Excel.Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.Able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions; this role regularly walks nursery yards, inspects product, and performs physical counts.Excellent communication skills; ability to work cross-functionally with Sales, Operations, and Logistics teams.Spanish bilingual ability is a strong plus.Valid driver’s license and ability to travel daily within the LA region.EducationHigh School Diploma or equivalent experiencePhysical requirements/Working ConditionsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day.
