Job summary

The Port of Virginia is seeking an Inventory Control Assistant to manage spare parts inventory supporting Maintenance and Operations. You will receive, store, pick, and deliver parts, ensure accuracy, and handle data entry for inventory systems.

Ability to drive a forklift and a truck is required, and familiarity with Microsoft Office is beneficial. High school diploma or GED is required, with at least 1 year of inventory experience.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license and TWIC.
• 1 year of relevant experience in inventory control.

Responsibilities

• Ensures compliance with security, safety and environmental policies in area.
• Verifies incoming shipments and records deliveries.
• Uses inventory system to receive, store, pick, issue, and cycle count items.
• Unpacks shipments, rejects damaged items, and coordinates with shipper.
• Puts away parts and prepares for delivery; issues parts to departments.
• Drives delivery vehicle to terminal locations and handles loading/unloading.
• Monitors shelf-life and notifies when expired.
• Prepares monthly cycle count and pick-list reports.
• Updates customers on order status and backorders.
• Collaborates with departments to meet inventory needs.
