JOB TITLE: Inventory Control Lead

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY: To lead the day-to-day work of the inventory control team, ensuring accurate inventory records to meet production and customer demands. Provides hands-on direction, training, and quality oversight to Inventory Control Specialists, and serves as the key link between the team and the Planning Manager.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES:

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and work direction to Inventory Control Specialists, including assigning cycle count schedules, balancing workload across locations, and covering gaps as needed
  • Train, mentor, and coach Inventory Control Specialists on ERP transactions, cycle counting methods, and inventory control procedures
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between the inventory control team and the Planning Manager, escalating staffing, process, or system issues as needed
  • Own the accuracy and integrity of inventory records; lead root cause investigations of significant discrepancies and drive corrective and preventive actions
  • Review, approve, and audit cycle count results, adjustments, and other inventory transactions performed by the team for accuracy and compliance
  • Monitor inventory KPIs (accuracy rate, aging, variance, obsolescence) and report trends and issues to the Planning Manager and cross-functional partners
  • Coordinate with warehouse, production, purchasing, and quality teams to ensure smooth material flow across multiple locations
  • Plan and lead physical inventory events, including annual counts and special audits, from preparation through reconciliation
  • Identify and lead Lean/continuous improvement projects that improve inventory accuracy, space utilization, and labeling/traceability practices
  • Perform hands-on cycle counts, transaction processing, and reporting alongside the team as workload requires
  • Ensure proper labeling, binning, and location of materials for traceability and organization
  • Operate forklifts and reach trucks safely and effectively
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with team members and other departments
  • Follow all OSHA safety regulations and those set by Future Form Manufacturing
  • Maintain the responsibilities of the ISO 9001 system in accordance with the requirements defined in the Quality Manual and Procedure Level documentation
  • Participate actively and positively in Lean activities
  • All other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ inventory control experience
  • Prior experience training, directing, or informally leading other team members
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to hold self and others accountable to it
  • Ability to prioritize and manage workload across multiple people and locations at once
  • Basic computer skills with an emphasis on Excel spreadsheets and ERP systems; NetSuite a plus
  • Strong root-cause and problem-solving skills; able to investigate discrepancies and recommend corrective action
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with team members, the Planning Manager, and other departments
  • Good interpersonal and coaching skills; able to give and receive constructive feedback
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision and to make sound decisions in the moment
  • Able to follow instructions and communicate effectively
  • Basic math ability (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division)
