Panasonic Energy Corporation of North America is seeking an Inventory Shift Lead for the B Shift in Sparks, Nevada. The role sits in the Supply Chain department supporting the Gigafactory project with Tesla, focusing on inventory control, reporting, and staffing coordination.

You will lead a team, ensure adherence to production schedules, and generate reports on inventory levels, safety stock, and demand rates while coordinating with multiple departments to balance supply and production needs.

Responsibilities

• Interact daily with Clerks in the Super Markets and Spares Rooms.
• Adhere to production schedules.
• Communicate production status to co-workers and other departments.
• Perform weekly inventory reconciliations of spare parts.
• Prepare reports including inventory balance, safety stock, demand rates, price lists and shortages.
• Schedule staffing for vacations and sick days.
• Support maintenance, production and TAs with material requisitions and locations/quantities.
• Schedule staffing for downtime to maintain inventory accuracy.
• Overtime and weekend availability as requested.
• Coordinate with Leads via meetings, phone, and email.
• Manage and coordinate raw materials for use in production.
• Familiarity with the 5S/Lean process.

Job Summary:

Panasonic Energy of Corporation North America (PECNA) is collaborating with Tesla Motors, Inc. to construct a large-scale advanced battery manufacturing facility known as the Gigafactory near Reno, Nevada which is known for its quality of life and expansive outdoor adventures. Panasonic's role in the Gigafactory will be to manufacture and supply cylindrical lithium-ion cells and based on the battery demand from Tesla, the Gigafactory is planned to produce cells which will double the world’s current production!

Through this effort we will create a clean energy society and our products will change society’s use of and perceptions of electric power.

Essential Duties:

• Daily interactions with all Clerks in the Super Markets and Spares Rooms.
• Must be able to adhere to production schedules.
• Communicate with co-workers the status of the current product at hand and location.
• Must be able to communicate with other departments when needed.
• Perform weekly inventory reconciliations of spare parts.
• Prepares reports, such as inventory balance, safety stock calculations, demand rates, price lists and shortages.
• Must be able to deliver a detailed end of shift report to the next shift and must be able to provide a detailed report when inventory accuracy is below target.
• Responsible for scheduling staffing needs for vacations and sick days with the Clerks.
• Help and assist maintenance techs, production and TAs on material requisitions and providing locations and quantities for parts.
• Proactively schedule staffing for any downtime for clean-up, cycle counts, and inventory accuracy.
• Must be able to work overtime and/or weekends as requested by Supervisor.
• Must be able to communicate through meetings, phone, and email with other Leads.
• Must adhere to company rules and policies.
• Manage and coordinate raw materials for use in production.
• Must be flexible with work shifts.
• Must have familiarity with the 5S/Lean process.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements:

• To ensure the health and safety in the workplace and for the protection of our employees, wearing PPE is a possibility and may include equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, bump cap, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator.

Qualifications

Requirements - Required and/or Preferred

Education:

• Basic/Required:High School Diploma or GED

Essential Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in a fast-paced high-volume manufacturing environment.
• Must have a minimum of 2 years of leadership experience
• Must have some experience with Microsoft Office.
• Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English

Preferred Qualifications:

• Must be able to create reports in MS Office (Word, Power Point, Excel)
• Must be able to motivate team members, and work in a high performing team environment.
• Will need to counsel and deliver performance appraisals to operators.
• Must have a safety conscientious attitude.
• In the absence of a supervisor, must be able to make safe, business minded, conscientious decisions when issues arise.

Required Certification(s):

• Must be able to pass a forklift, electric pallet jack and manual pallet jack certification
