Job summary

Sysco Corporation in Newport is seeking a warehouse associate to accurately select products from the warehouse and prepare orders for shipping. You will stack items on pallets in a stable, orderly configuration and maintain a clean, safe work environment.

Responsibilities include reading orders, labeling products, operating an electric pallet jack, and adhering to GMP and SQF guidelines. This position requires physical stamina and long hours in a cool/frozen environment.

Qualifications

• Must be 18+ years old.
• 0–1 year of relevant work experience.
• Able to lift 10–75 lb (up to 100 lb) repeatedly.
• Able to stand for 10–12 hours daily and work in extreme temperatures.

Responsibilities

• Read customer orders from label screens and pick products by slot and description.
• Assemble orders from stock and place them on pallets in sequence.
• Attach labels on products.
• Operate an electric pallet jack to move products to dock area for staging.
• Handle products with care and report any damage.
• Perform daily equipment checks.
• Assist in facility cleaning and sign off daily tasks.
• Sign in/out for all equipment used.
• Understand work instructions using basic communication skills.
• Adhere to GMP, personal hygiene and SQF policies as described in safety manual.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, the associate will accurately and efficiently select products in the warehouse. Prepare products for shipping by stacking in an orderly and stable configuration, while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Read customer order from label screen and select product by slot and description.
• Assemble customer orders from stock and place orders on pallets in the proper sequence.
• Attach labels on product.
• Properly operate an electric pallet jack (2-pallet length) to proceed to correct slot location, and transport product to dock area for staging.
• Handle products with the necessary care.
• Report any damage of merchandise, equipment or facility to a supervisor.
• Perform daily equipment checks.
• Assist in the clean-up of the facility and sign off on the daily cleaning area that the supervisor may assign.
• Sign in and out for all equipment when used.
• Use basic communication skills to understand work systems, instructions, etc.
• Adhere to all applicable GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice), personal hygiene, and SQF (Safe Quality Food) policies and procedures as described in the European Imports – Sysco Food Safety Training Manual.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• 0 – 1 Year relevant work experience.
• Frequently lift product that weighs 10lb - 75lbs and up to 100lbs.
• Frequently reach up to 72 inches.
• Constantly bend and twist while operating an electric pallet jack or forklift, retrieving products from lower shelf areas.
• Work in very extreme temperatures (cooler and/or freezer).
• Work on your feet for 10 – 12 hours daily.

Preferred Requirements

• 1 year experience operating an electric pallet jack or forklift.
• 1 year of warehouse, military, or physically active job experience.
• 1 year Selection Experience.
• 2 years consistent work history preferred.
