Qualifications

• Licensed by the state Board of Nursing.
• Must maintain continuing education and competency in surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Uses the nursing process to provide safe care during intraoperative period.
• Monitors sterility and applies sterile technique during intraoperative period.
• Documents ongoing assessments related to patients and surgical equipment/supplies.
• Provides patient/family education and keeps them informed about procedures.
• Attends daily huddles and participates in in-services within the department.
