Overview

Job Summary: The Interventional Vascular Specialist II precepts new staff and students. They should have intermediate knowledge of x‑ray equipment and troubleshooting.

Job Duties
  • Assist in more advanced procedures such as pulmonary thrombectomy, AAA, TEVAR, FEVAR.
  • Assist with complex procedures; including multiple wire exchanges and use of long wires and OTW balloons.
  • Use specialty devices such as laser, penumbra, Inari and shockwave.
  • Circulate, monitor and scrub all Interventional Vascular procedures.
  • Troubleshoot imaging equipment, collaborating with biomedical engineers for service.
  • Participate in procedural charging and maintain supply management.
  • Act quickly under emergency situations.
  • Discuss plan of action with physician and assist with any high-risk procedures.
  • Cross‑train as needed to support departmental needs.
  • Understand and work with x‑ray system, including panning table and recognizing different angles.
  • Manage access site, including proper removal of sheath, assessment of hematoma and knowledge of hematoma management.
  • Understand concepts of radiation safety.
  • Be knowledgeable in vascular anatomy and recognize different types of lesions.
  • Have basic knowledge of supply features and applications to procedure.
  • Adhere to sterile technique.
  • Communicate effectively with team, patients, families and medical staff.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education: Graduate of accredited school of radiologic or cardiovascular technology.
  • Experience: 1 year experience as an Interventional Vascular Specialist, Interventional Radiology Technologist, or Registered Cardiovascular Technologist.
  • Certifications/Licensure: Registered as an ARRT‑R (with VI or CV credential) or RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) is required.
Physical Requirements

(Medium): 20–50 lbs; 0–33% of the work day (occasionally); 11–25 lbs, 34–66% of the workday (frequently); 1–10 lbs, 67–100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, occasional sitting, close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing). Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.

Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: blood‑borne pathogen exposure, bio‑hazardous waste, chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors, communicable diseases, electrical shock, floor surfaces, hot/cold temperatures, indoor/outdoor conditions, latex, lighting, patient care/handling injuries, radiation. Shift work, travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, is required. Environmental conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and work tasks.
