Job summary

Capital Health is seeking a Radiology Technologist to perform clinical imaging and support radiology operations at our facilities. The role emphasizes patient safety, accurate imaging, and collaboration with physicians to ensure optimal study interpretation.

Qualified candidates will have ARRT registration and a radiologic technology degree, with the ability to work on-call, holidays, and weekends as needed. This full-time position offers comprehensive benefits and a supportive team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provides clinical radiology services per practice standards and supports other technologists for patient care.
  • Ensures studies are optimized for interpretation per department policies.
  • Sends images to PACS correctly.
  • Maintains ALARA radiation safety and protection for patients and staff.
  • Demonstrates radiologic principles, anatomy, positioning, and technique for quality imaging.
  • Identifies and resolves issues impacting exam quality and patient care.
  • Assists physicians in studies with proper protection and infection control procedures.

The listed pay range or pay rate reflects compensation for a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) position. Actual compensation may differ depending on assigned hours and position status (e.g., part-time).

Position Overview
  • Provides clinical services according to radiology practice standards and acts as a resource to other technologists to ensure optimal patient care and efficient departmental operations. Demonstrates patient safety by use of guard rails, breaking mechanisms, shielding, and patient monitoring.
  • Adheres to department policies and protocols to ensure that all studies are optimized for interpretation.
  • Demonstrates competence in correctly sending images to PACS.
  • Demonstrates radiation protection and safety for patients and staff as outlined in department protocols and regulatory guidelines. Performs appropriate procedures as determined by physician. Maintains radiation exposure reading within the ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) limits.
  • Demonstrates a thorough understanding of radiological principles and theory, anatomy, positioning, and technique for obtaining optimal imaging studies.
  • Recognizes clinical and emergent problems that may interfere with exams and take appropriate action to resolve them and produce the most desirable outcome.
  • Assists physicians in the performance of various studies using standard department protocols and appropriate radiation protection, sterile procedures, and infection control procedures.
  • Prepares, operates, and maintains equipment consistent with established policies, standards, and practices for sterilization, safety, and proper operation condition.
  • Completes ancillary tasks to ensure efficient and consistent departmental operations. Identifies correctly patients and files to ensure a high degree of accuracy. Enters written and electronic data accurately in comments to provide all pertinent data to radiologists to assist in the interpretation of imaging studies.
Minimum Requirements
  • Education: Graduation from accredited school of radiological technology. ARRT registered.
  • Experience: No previous experience required.
  • Other Credentials: AHA BLS - Healthcare Provider, Diagnostic Radiography License.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Capability to perform on-call, holiday, and weekend work when required.
  • Special Training: Basic computer skills.
  • Mental, Behavioral and Emotional Abilities: Effective verbal communication skills.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Frequent physical demands include: Standing, walking, carrying objects, push/pull, twisting, bending, reaching forward, reaching overhead, pinching/fine motor activities.
  • Occasional physical demands include: Sitting, climbing (e.g., stairs or ladders), squat/kneel/crawl, wrist position deviation, keyboard use/repetitive motion.
  • Continuous physical demands include: Talk or hear.
  • Lifting floor to waist 40 lbs. Lifting waist level and above 40 lbs.
  • Sensory requirements include: Accurate near vision, accurate far vision, color discrimination, accurate depth perception, accurate hearing.
  • Anticipated occupational exposure risks include: Bloodborne pathogens, airborne communicable disease, radiation.
