Responsibilities

  • Performs interventional radiographic procedures under radiologist supervision.
  • Explains procedures to patients.
  • Prepares and positions patients for procedures.
  • Maintains sterile environment; handles sterile equipment trays, devices and dressings.
  • Collaborates with radiologists and staff to perform image-guided procedures.
  • Operates radiographic equipment to produce high-quality vascular and neuro interventional studies.
  • Performs comprehensive hemodynamic monitoring including setup of transducers and monitors.
  • Identifies variations in monitoring data and implements corrective actions.
  • Performs follow-up observation until patients leave the department.
  • Uses electronic charting systems (RIS/PACS) and maintains equipment functions.
  • Orders and maintains ancillary equipment used in diagnostic and therapeutic exams.
  • Performs image manipulation according to protocol.
  • Performs quality control checks on equipment and adheres to procedures.
  • Participates in department-wide quality improvement initiatives.
  • Engages in ongoing professional development; provides training to staff.
  • Teaches use of IR equipment to staff.
  • Performs research projects under Radiologists or Section Chiefs.
  • Acts as Team Leader in absence; participates in on-call duties with variable shifts.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as requested.

Position Summary

This position provides support to radiologists during minimally invasive, image-guided diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, working within a sterile pediatric acute-care setting to ensure safe and effective patient care.

Position Duties
  • Interventional Radiographic Procedures
  • Explains procedures for patients.
  • Prepares and positions patients for procedures.
  • Ensures a sterile environment during procedures, setup and handling of sterile equipment trays, medical devices, and dressing applications.
  • . Works closely with radiologists and other medical professionals to perform minimally invasive, image-guided procedures.
  • Operates radiographic equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic Vascular and Neuro Interventional Radiology studies, and other specialized imaging exams to support Phoenix Children’s service line needs.
  • Patient Observation and Monitoring
  • Performs comprehensive hemodynamic monitoring, including set‑up and maintenance of transducers, physiological data recorders, ECG monitors, oximetry device, digital cardiac outputs devices, and peripheral vascular recording equipment.
  • Identifies variations and irregularities in monitoring data and promptly implements appropriate corrective measures based on the information provided.
  • Performs follow‑up observation and monitoring until patients leave the department.
  • Administration & Quality Control
  • Demonstrates competency in use of all applicable aspects of the electronic charting system, RIS and PACs.
  • Orders, maintains, and understands the use and function of all ancillary equipment used in both diagnostic and therapeutic examinations.
  • Performs image manipulation according to department protocol.
  • Performs quality control checks on equipment and ensures that proper procedures are followed.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of constant quality improvement values and participates in departmental and organizational Quality Improvement Initiatives.
  • Education & Training
  • Engages in ongoing professional development to enhance individual expertise and foster team growth; provides training and mentorship to colleagues.
  • Teaches use of IR equipment and procedures to staff.
  • Performs research projects under the direction of Radiologists or Section Chiefs.
  • Back‑Up & Call Coverage
  • Performs duties of Team Leader in their absence, as needed.
  • Performs on‑call duties and works variable shifts as assigned to meet department needs.
  • Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
