Job summary

MedStar Health seeks an Interventional Technologist I at Good Samaritan Hospital and Franklin Square Medical Center in Baltimore, MD. The role performs vascular, non-vascular, and neurointerventional imaging procedures under supervision, ensuring patient safety and quality care.

Requires ARRT certification within 90 days, MD/VA state license, BLS, CPR, and ACLS preferred. A sign-on bonus of $10,000 is offered and the schedule includes rotating call with four 9-hour shifts.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in radiologic technology required.
  • USDE/CHEA/METC-accredited program certificate required for older diplomas.

Responsibilities

  • Perform vascular, non-vascular, and/or neurointerventional procedures under supervision.
  • Maintain sterile technique and act as scrub or circulating technologist as needed.
  • Ensure patient safety, monitor physiology, and document care in the EHR.
  • Coordinate patient flow and communicate with teams to support efficient imaging workflows.
  • Maintain equipment, perform QC, and report issues promptly.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Under general supervision,performs vascular, non-vascular, and/or neurointerventional procedures.

  • Demonstrates basic clinical competency in vascular, non-vascular, and/or neurointerventional procedures across all locations and patient populations. Selectsappropriate technicalfactors based on individual patient needs anddemonstratesthe knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care. Administers contrast mediain accordance withfacility policies. Participates in and/or performs procedure-related patient care activities and physiologic monitoring under the direction of a physician. Utilizes sterile technique and functions as either a scrub or circulating technologist, as needed.

  • Participates in departmental and organizational performance improvement initiatives designed to enhance workflows, patient experience, quality, safety, and operational efficiency. Activelyparticipatesin student and employee training and educational activities.

  • Maintains a clean, safe, and prepared work environment, including cleaning and preparing patient rooms. Maintains supplies and inventory within the assigned area.

  • Communicates effectively with patients to obtain medical histories, answer questions, and explain procedures to ensure patient understanding and comfort.

  • Ensures the proper maintenance and operation of equipment by performing quality control activities and promptly reporting equipment or environmental issues.

  • Provides patient education and support, including preparing patients for procedures and addressing physical and psychological needs. Escalates concerns throughappropriate channelsas needed.

  • Prioritizes patient flow and coordinates care through consistent and effective communication with patients, families, and the healthcare team. Documents patient care activities in electronic health record systems anddistributesfinal images to the PACS systemin a timely mannerfor interpretation.

  • Consistently acts and communicates professionally, embodying the organization's SPIRIT values and fostering a respectful and supportive environment for patients, families, and colleagues. Adheres to the ARRT Standards of Ethics.

  • Adheres to departmental policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards whilemaintainingcompliance with federal, state, professional, and accreditation requirements.

  • Follows direction from leadership, ensuring adherence toestablishedprotocols, maintaining patient flow, and seeking clarification when necessary.

Minimal Qualifications
Education
  • Associate's degree in radiologic technology required; or

  • Vocational/Technical Diploma or Certificate in Radiologic Technology (awarded before January 1, 2015) from a program accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE), the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), or the Medical Education and Training Campus (METC)required.

Experience
  • Six (6) months of experience in an interventional radiology environment (e.g., Vascular Interventional Radiology [VIR], Neurointerventional Radiology [NIR], or Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory) preferred.

Licenses and Certifications
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) within90 daysof hirerequired.

  • Licensed Radiologic Technologist in the applicable state (Maryland or Virginia)requiredupon hire.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certificationrequiredupon hire.

  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification for healthcare providers, including BLS and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), through either the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross,requiredwithin90 daysof hire.

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of and ability to perform, or learn to perform, procedures including angiograms, angioplasties, embolization's, dilations, biopsies, fibrinolysis, venograms, and myelograms.

  • Ability to work effectively in stressful and emergent situations.

  • Knowledge of cardiac monitoring and arrhythmia recognition.

  • Ability to read, write, speak, andcomprehendEnglish.

  • Basic computer skills, including data entryproficiency.

  • Familiarity with computerized clinical information systems, including Clinicians View, Chart View, and PACS.

  • Knowledge of HIPAA requirements and confidentiality policies.

This position has a hiring range of : USD $35.68 - USD $58.84 /Hr.
