Job summary

Southcoast Health is seeking an Interventional Radiology Technologist for St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford, MA. The role involves radiologic procedures within IR, patient education, and team-based care in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements include an accredited Radiologic Technology program, ARRT IR certification or equivalent, MA licensure, BLS, and willingness to support a 32-hour day shift with on-call rotations. Sign-on bonus applies for new hires.

Qualifications

• Accredited program in Radiologic Technology completed.
• Post-primary ARRT Interventional Radiology certification RT(VI)/CI/CV is required or preferred.
• Current licensure as Radiologic Technologist in Massachusetts.
• BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
• Vaccination against influenza and COVID-19 or approved exemption signed statement.

Responsibilities

• Perform diversified clinical patient care within the Interventional Radiology team.
• Assess patients and correlate clinical findings with exam requests.
• Educate patients for exams and position for imaging.
• Select imaging equipment and parameters to produce high quality images.
• Identify, prepare and administer pharmaceuticals as needed for exams/procedures.
• Apply ALARA principles to minimize radiation exposure and ensure MR safety.
• Assist physicians during interventional procedures.

*$12,000 new hire sign-on bonus for this position. (rehires termed more than 1 year also eligible)*

Hours: 32hrs

Shift: Day shift with weekend, holiday and on call rotation

Under the general supervision and direction of the Manager, Interventional Radiology Clinical Services or designee, perform diversified clinical patient care, technical and related duties within assigned modality as part of an interdisciplinary care team. Assume responsibility for each assigned patient, perform patient assessments, and correlate clinical findings with exam/procedure request. Obtain pertinent information from patient*s chart and document all data within the EHR. Educate patient for exam. Position patient and select appropriate imaging equipment and supplies. Identify, prepare and/or administer pharmaceuticals related to the exam/procedure. Select technical factors/ parameters/sequences to produce quality images. Properly identify anatomy and evaluate images for technical quality. Apply the principles of ALARA to minimize exposure to patient, self and others and aware of MR safety practices. Assist physicians in performing procedures.

• Successful completion of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology, and attainment of post-primary certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Interventional Radiology RT(VI)/(CI)/or (CV).
• Current RT licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is also required.
• Post-primary certification in Vascular Interventional Radiography and ACLS is preferred.
• Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or Cardiovascular Credentialing International is required.
• Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and the COVID 19 virus or to be exempt from the requirement for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying you are choosing to be exempt from vaccination once hired

Compensation: Pay rate will be determined based on level of experience.
