Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health Lakeway is seeking an Interventional Radiology Technologist to perform IR procedures under a radiologist's supervision. You will work in a multi-suite IR department with advanced imaging equipment and follow established safety and documentation standards.

The role requires ARRT radiography certification and relevant interventional certifications within two years, with a focus on patient care and teamwork in a high-volume hospital environment.

Qualifications

• ARRT-R Radiography certification is required.
• Must be certified in ARRT-CI, ARRT-CV, or ARRT-VI within two years of hire.
• Additional ARRT certifications listed above may be required or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs high-quality IR procedures according to exam protocol.
• Explains procedures to patients and establishes rapport.
• Prepares patient and area for procedures and adjusts equipment.
• Maintains safety, infection-control, sterile technique and radiation policies.
• Maintains equipment and supplies; reports issues to management.
• Screens people entering the department and maintains documentation.
• Maintains medical imaging records in department systems.

Interventional Radiology IR - 3 procedure suites. 2 GE fluoroscopy units (soon to be upgraded to Phillips), Siemens biplane system. 12 private room pre/post holding rooms.

Job Summary

The Interventional Radiology Technologist, under a Radiologist's supervision, performs interventional radiology procedures on ambulatory and hospital patients. These procedures are requested by a physician or licensed provider for diagnosing disease and injury, following established protocols.

Essential Functions of the Role

• Performs high-quality IR procedures according to exam protocol in a timely manner. Maintains production and quality of imaging procedures by following established standards and procedures.
• Utilizes AIDET when communicating with patients to identify service needs. Ensures the correct exam is performed on the correct patient. Establishes rapport with patients and others. Instructs and communicates with patients and their families about the test to be performed. Assesses the patient's ability to tolerate the exam.
• Prepares patient and area for procedure by positioning patient and adjusting immobilization devices. Moves equipment into position and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors.
• Protects patients and employees by following safety, infection-control, drug, and radiation policies, protocols, and techniques. Uses proper sterile techniques when setting up and performing invasive multimodality procedures. Maintains hand hygiene requirements.
• Maintains equipment and work area to meet quality and cleanliness standards. Works with engineers and physicists to ensure equipment operates well. Reports issues to management or the appropriate department. Assists in maintaining the supplies inventory.
• Ensures people are safe to enter the department by screening them according to approved policies and procedures.
• Obtain, verify, and maintain all relevant documentation. This includes requisition/chart, patient history, pregnancy status, shielding precautions, consent forms, and policies.
• Maintains medical imaging records in appropriate system and according to department policies and standards for interpretation in a timely manner.

• ARRT-R Radiography (ARRT-R): ARRT-Radiography (ARRT-R) is required.
• Must be certified in one of the following within two years of hire: ARRT-CI Cardiac-Interventional (ARRT-CI), ARRT-CV Cardiovasc-Inter Rad (ARRT-CV), or ARRT-VI Interventional Rad (ARRT-VI).
