Job summary

IU Health in Indianapolis seeks an Interventional Radiology Technologist to assist radiologists in complex interventional procedures, act as scrub tech when needed, and maintain sterile fields.

Requires ARRT RT(R), Indiana ISDH radiologic license, and a BLS certification. 0–3 years experience and the ability to work weekend 12-hour shifts with rotating weekday call. Must collaborate closely with ICU, ED, Trauma, and other teams.

Qualifications

• 0–3 years of relevant experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by AHA is required.
• Active ARRT RT(R) registration.
• Indiana ISDH license as Radiologic Technologist required.
• May need to obtain advanced credential in interventional radiography.

Responsibilities

• Assist radiologist or interventionalist during procedures and act as scrub tech when appropriate.
• Prepare and set up sterile field and ensure proper supplies for procedures.
• Follow radiation safety protocols and monitor patient dose alert levels.
• Document required information in the EMR and work with a multidisciplinary team.

Overview

Special weekend option schedule - 3 12s Saturday, Sunday, Monday. One weekday of call every other week required.

Assists radiologist/interventionalist in interventional procedures including acting as scrub tech where appropriate. Adheres to all safety and infection control protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff. Follows radiation safety protocols and is aware of patient dose alert levels and escalation procedure. Understands and has knowledge of complex procedures. Demonstrates ability to determine appropriate supplies for procedure and sets up sterile field. Possesses advanced knowledge of cross sectional and vascular anatomy. Communicates and work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team (critical care, ED, Trauma, IP, OP, Nursing, Oncology, Transplant, GI, Neurosurgery, etc). Documents necessary information in EMR.

• Requires 0-3 years of relevant experience.
• Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
• Requires ability to maneuver equipment and improvise positions when the condition of the patient does not permit routine positioning.
• Requires knowledge of sterile technique and supplies used during interventional exams.
• Requires active status as a Registered Technologist - Radiography, RT(R), through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• May be required to obtain advanced credential in interventional radiography, if applicable.
• Requires current Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) license as Radiologic Technologist.
• Experience as a radiologic technologist, preferred.
