Functions under the direction of the Site Manager. He/she is responsible for performing a wide variety of clinical proceduresrequiring independent judgement, ingenuity and initiative in the utilization of the equipment for the diagnosis and/or treatment ofdiseases. The registered nurse is responsible for implementing the nursing process based on expanded knowledge andexperience. The nurse is responsible for providing patient care with an understanding and awareness of age specific needs. Addresses the biological, emotional, developmental, psychosocial and patient/family education needs in providing care to thepatient and family. The nurse is able to independently perform job functions.
1. Clinical Skillsa. Completion of V-ARU competenciesb. Provide pre and post procedure care of patients for invasive, interventional and surgical proceduresc. Able to use critical thinking skillsd. Able to deliver patient care in complex, multiple problem patient care situationse. Prepares and may administer contrast. Understands preparation/administration of doses according to patients weight and physician orderf. Administers conscious sedation per system policy and procedureg. Preps the patient for procedureh. Introduces self to patient and/or guardian upon entering room utilizing proper scriptinge, Transports patients as neededk. Provides privacy and comfort for patient/customersl. Assists with maintenance of departmental records, Joint Commission standards, State and Federal Regulations and Performance Improvementm. Completes necessary paperworkn. Answers department phone using proper scriptingo. Completes chart reviews as neededp. Performs QA/QC functions as neededq. Assists in other Medical Imaging areas and as needed in other departments in the system, system wider. Maintain current successful completion of BLS and ACLSs. Understands Scope of Service for Vascular Institute, VARU and Medical Imagingt. Assist in inservice/training for other Medical Imaging staff as appropriateo. Reviews case with the appropriate physician(s) as neededp. Recognizes that total patient care starts when the patient arrives at our facility and ends when the physician/patient have the imaging results.q. Meets Service Recovery and Customer Service Guidelines as neededr. Reviews the case with appropriate physician(s) as neededu. Coordinates daily schedule of patientsv. Maintains checking the crash cart in assigned Medical Imaging areas.2. . Quality and Patient Safetya. Verifies patient ID using 2 patient identifiers, ie. Armband, DOB, verbal identificationb. Verifies front of patient chart for same/similar name stickerc. Verifies Written Order, seeks clarification is uncleard. Understands and complies with verbal order RBAC and performs necessary follow-up with written ordere. Uses and understands preprocedural verification/time out form when appropriatef. Understands and complies with site/side marking when indicated

Associates Nursing or Diploma (Nurse) Nursing or Bachelors Nursing-PreferredRequired Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):

Minimum of 3 years experience in Interventional Radiology. Cardiac cath is a bonus!Must be experienced in moderate sedation.ICU / CCU /ER or previous Cath Lab experience required
