Job description

The role of an Interventional Radiologist offers a unique blend of interventional and diagnostic radiology responsibilities in a collaborative and dynamic healthcare environment. This position is designed for fellowship-trained radiologists who are adept at performing a comprehensive range of interventional radiology procedures while also providing expert diagnostic imaging interpretations. The opportunity is structured to provide both stability and professional growth, with a strong emphasis on balancing hands-on procedural work and diagnostic coverage. This is an onsite position, offering the chance to work across multiple clinical sites and contribute to the continuum of patient care within the medical community.

As an Interventional Radiologist, you will spend approximately 60% of your time performing interventional procedures and 40% interpreting diagnostic imaging studies. This division allows for continual skills development in both areas and ensures a varied and engaging clinical workload. The position requires a high level of availability, including some overnight and weekend call, but with the benefit of a generally light call volume. Full-week coverage blocks are preferred, making this an excellent opportunity for those seeking concentrated clinical assignments and long-term professional relationships.

Clinical responsibilities are diverse and require comfort with a wide array of interventional radiology procedures such as angiography, venography, arthrography, breast interventions, CT- and MRI-guided procedures, gastrointestinal interventions, reconstruction, shuntograms, transcatheter interventions, as well as biopsies, excisions, and drainage procedures. In addition to procedural expertise, you will provide general diagnostic radiology coverage across five clinical sites, ensuring efficient, high-quality imaging interpretations and contributing to the delivery of comprehensive patient care.

The Interventional Radiologist position utilizes advanced technology platforms, including PACSRP Cloud, to support productivity and workflow efficiency. Productivity expectations are well-defined, with a goal of 45–50 wRVUs per shift. The working environment values teamwork, communication, and the highest standards of patient care, making it an ideal setting for professionals who thrive in fast-paced, multidisciplinary teams.

Candidates are expected to have completed an interventional radiology fellowship and demonstrate the ability to perform a broad spectrum of IR procedures. Prior experience in diagnostic radiology is also essential. While an active state medical license is preferred, candidates pursuing licensure will be supported through the credentialing process, which typically requires approximately 60 days. Commitment to full-week coverage and flexibility to participate in overnight and weekend call rotations are key components for success in this role.

Working as an Interventional Radiologist in this region offers a rewarding professional experience, with the opportunity to collaborate with skilled healthcare professionals and engage in a variety of clinical cases. The role is particularly appealing for those seeking a balanced mix of procedural and diagnostic responsibilities, long-term locum tenens potential, and a consistent weekday schedule with minimal disruption from call requirements. The area is known for a supportive medical community and a positive work environment, making it an excellent choice for advancing your radiology career.
