Job summary

Ochsner Health is seeking a qualified Radiologic Technologist to safely prepare for and scrub into interventional procedures in collaboration with interventional radiologists and nursing teams. The role requires ARRT certification or registry-eligibility, state licensure, and BLS certification, with a preference for interventional radiology experience.

You will operate imaging equipment, verify orders, ensure image quality, and participate in quality control while adhering to radiation safety

Qualifications

• Completion of an approved radiologic technology program is required.
• No prior work experience is required; interventional radiology experience is preferred.
• ARRT registry or registry-eligible; license in state of practice; BLS certification required.
• Advanced certification in Vascular Interventional Radiology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Verify physician orders and procedures for accuracy.
• Operate radiology equipment to perform imaging procedures per protocol.
• Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding.
• Review images for diagnostic quality before transmission.

This job safely prepares for and scrubs into interventional procedures in collaboration with interventional radiologists and nursing. Holds advanced certification in Vascular Interventional Radiography and provides care in accordance with prescribed radiation safety procedures and protocols.

Education

Required - Completion of an approved radiologic technology program.

Work Experience

Required - None.

Preferred - Interventional radiology experience.

Certifications

Required - Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) OR American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registry eligible, registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) within 90 days of employment, and temporary state license required

Current unrestricted license in the state of practice

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association

Preferred - Advanced certification in Vascular Interventional Radiology

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

• Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally.
• Strong interpersonal skills.

Job Duties

• Verifies physician order and procedure to assure accuracy.
• Utilizes radiology information systems to facilitate care.
• Explains procedure to patient to ensure understanding.
• Independently operates equipment to complete imaging procedure according to protocol.
• Reviews patient images prior to transmission to ensure images meet diagnostic quality standards.
• Completes timely quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards and performing notification/remediation as warranted.
• Assists in the facilitation of departmental operations (inventory, staff schedules, equipment, maintenance, etc.).
• Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
• Performs other related duties as required.
