Job summary

Bayhealth Medical Center in Delaware is seeking a physician to provide direct care to patients in accordance with established protocols and care guidelines. The role requires maintaining licensure, completing CME, and providing coverage across approved settings.

Responsibilities include performing examinations, ordering and interpreting tests, educating patients, and ensuring high-quality care within Bayhealth's standards. The position is full-time with day shifts at Kent Campus Hospital.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine degree
• Residency completed as per Bayhealth Medical Staff Bylaws
• CSR/DEA licensure as required by job duties

Responsibilities

• Perform appropriate physical exams and document findings.
• Utilize and interpret diagnostic tests and coordinate referrals or consultations.
• Provide patient education and counseling to promote wellness.
• Ensure coverage across appropriate settings (ambulatory, hospital) during business hours and on evenings/weekends as mutually agreed.
• Maintain clinical, technical and surgical skills credentialed for scope of practice.
• Dispense medications appropriately considering patient age, conditions and interactions; comply with quality standards.
• Maintain Delaware medical license and CSR; complete CME and obtain Board certification as required.
• Perform other duties within scope of job responsibilities.

General Summary:

The physician provides direct care to patients in accordance with established protocols, practices and standardized care guidelines.

Responsibilities:

1. Perform appropriate physical exams and document appropriately and in a timely manner.
2. Utilization and interpretation of appropriate diagnostic tests (i.e. laboratory tests and diagnostic imaging and procedures appropriate to their specialty) and provide appropriate referral or consultation.
3. Perform patient education and counseling to promote wellness. Consistently address and provide resources for health risk behaviors.
4. Provide agreed upon coverage to care for patients in the appropriate settings (ex. ambulatory office and/or hospital) during business hours and evening/weekends, as mutually agreed upon and per medical staff bylaws.
5. Physician will maintain and provide the clinical, technical and surgical skills to which they have been credentialled to perform.
6. Physician will use the appropriate pharmacological dispensing consistent with patients age, medical conditions, allergies, drug interaction and duration of therapy assuring quality of care in the dispensing of both narcotic and non-narcotic medication.
7. Physician will maintain an updated Delaware medical and CSR license and DEA license, including required continuing medical education (CME) and appropriate Board certification.
8. All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.

Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience:

• Education: Doctor of Medicine; Completed Residency. BC/BE per Bayhealth Medical Staff Bylaws.
• Credential(s): Physician - CSR (if required by defined job duties) Physician MDDEA (if required by defined job duties); Or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) licensure. Must meet credentialing requirements as established by Bayhealth Medical Staff Services department.
