Job description

Overview

Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Interventional Cardiologist is responsible for providing comprehensive diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular care in both inpatient and outpatient settings. This role includes performing cardiac catheterizations, percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI), advanced intracoronary imaging and physiology assessments, pacemaker implantation, hemodynamic support management, and related procedures. The physician ensures high-quality, evidence-based patient care while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to support the organization’s mission, clinical excellence, and patient safety standards.

Responsibilities
  • Perform left and right heart catheterizations, including Swan-Ganz catheterization for hemodynamic pressure measurements (RA, RV, PA, wedge).
  • Perform percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), including angioplasty and coronary stent placement.
  • Manage complex coronary lesions and high-risk interventional cases.
  • Utilize fluoroscopy and coronary angiography for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Perform transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE) and electrical cardioversions.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in intravascular ultrasound (IVUS), optical coherence tomography (OCT), and fractional flow reserve (FFR).
  • Utilize Shockwave intravascular lithotripsy technology.
  • Manage intra-aortic balloon pumps (IABP) and Impella ventricular assist devices.
  • Insert temporary and permanent pacemakers.
  • Perform insertion of implantable loop recorders.
  • Perform radial artery (wrist) and femoral artery (groin) vascular access and management.
  • Provide peri-procedural and post-procedural patient care and monitoring.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including nursing staff, anesthesiology, and critical care.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, quality standards, and safety protocols.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of an accredited General Cardiology Fellowship.
  • Completion of a specialized Interventional Cardiology Fellowship (typically 1–2 years).
  • Minimum of three (3) years of interventional cardiology experience.
  • Board eligible or board certified in Interventional Cardiology (e.g., American Board of Internal Medicine).
  • Current and valid Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Active and unrestricted state medical license.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion, professionalism, and within regulatory standards.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience in high-volume catheterization laboratory settings.
  • Experience managing complex coronary lesions and high-risk PCI cases.
  • Proficiency with advanced hemodynamic support devices.
  • Experience with structural heart procedures and advanced imaging modalities.
Working Environment

The work environment includes a healthcare setting including a hospital, out-patient services, and clinics. Exposure to infectious diseases, hazardous materials, and varying patient conditions may be possible. Some positions may be subject to working outdoors for prolonged periods.
