Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Education, or related field.
  • State teaching certification with SPED endorsement preferred.
  • Strong understanding of diverse teaching methods and individualized instruction.
  • Knowledge of state curriculum standards, education regulations, and IEPs.
  • Ability to conduct assessments, analyze data, and implement evidence-based interventions.
  • U.S. citizen, U.S. National, or lawfully permanent resident.

Responsibilities

  • Assess children's individual needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, administrators, and external specialists to design individualized programs.
  • Share subject matter with children in collaboration with teachers and related parties.
  • Ensure students are supervised in classrooms and other settings at all times.
  • Keep children engaged, safe, and on-task.
  • Apply effective classroom management techniques.
  • Maintain lesson plans and records of students' performance.
  • Refer children to psychologists and other therapists and connect them with services as needed.
  • Comply with IEP requirements and ongoing documentation.

Collaboration is essential, as they work closely with teachers, parents, administrators, and external specialists to create a cohesive support system. Additional duties include monitoring student progress, maintaining accurate records, and using data to refine interventions.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field; state teaching certification with a special education endorsement is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of diverse teaching methods and individualized instruction.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills to collaborate effectively with students, families, and school staff.
  • Knowledge of state curriculum standards, education regulations, and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs),.
  • Ability to conduct assessments, analyze data, and implement evidence-based interventions.
