Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Provides behavioral and emotional support to students to enable successful learning.
  • Observes students and offers feedback to educators on alternative approaches.
  • Escorts and observes students, providing support as needed.
  • Works one-on-one with students and advises teachers on participation and completion of work.
  • Participates in team meetings with staff and parents to identify needs and report progress.
  • Collects data to assist in intervention program development and delivery.
  • Collaborates with Mental Health Support Team to design and modify interventions.
  • Models trauma-informed responses when interacting with learners.
  • Maintains records for intervention programs for fidelity and outcome monitoring.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Job Summary

The purpose of this job is to provide behavioral and emotional support to students who are having difficulty at any given time in the traditional classroom setting.

Essential Duties
  • Provides behavioral and emotional support and encouragement to students to enable them to perform successfully in their learning environment.
  • Provides observation and feedback to educators about students, which may provide insight into other approaches that can be attempted to facilitate each student becoming more successful in the traditional setting.
  • Escorts and observes students, remaining with them as needed to provide support.
  • Works one-on-one with students on their assignments and provides consultation to the teachers regarding the student's participation and completion of assigned work.
  • Participates in team meetings with staff and parents to identify unmet functional and emotional needs, develops response plans, and reports progress.
  • Collects data to assist in the development and delivery of intervention programs.
  • Collaborates with the Mental Health Support Team to design, implement and modify behavioral interventions.
  • Provides and models trauma-informed responses when interacting with learners demonstrating dysregulated responses.
  • Maintains records related to the development and implementation of a student's intervention program for the purposes of fidelity and outcome monitoring.
  • Performs related work as required.
Minimum Education and Experience Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Must be physically able to participate and gain certification in de-escalation procedures and non-violent physical interventions.
  • Two (2) years of education, child development, mental/behavioral health, or social services experience
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
