Cobb County School District seeks an Interpreter for ESOL services to support school-home communications. This position requires travel to various locations and evening hours as needed.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, valid Georgia driver’s license, and bilingual abilities. Previous interpreter experience is preferred and confidentiality is essential.

Qualificações

• Educational level: High School Diploma or HSE required; BA in relevant field or abroad preferred.
• Certification/License: Valid Georgia Driver's License
• Experience: Two years interpreting/translation preferred.
• Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Written and oral comms; English plus another language; proficiency in computer applications.

• Keeps appointments and reports to site promptly.
• Assists in translation and interpretation for school-home meetings.
• Maintains confidentiality of conferences.
• Translates information accurately for school documents.
• Notifies coordinator of sensitive/interrelated issues.
• Encourages family engagement in school activities.
• Attends workshops and in-service training.
• Performs other duties as assigned by administrator.

Requirements

• Educational Level: High School Diploma or HSE required; bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent studies from abroad preferred
• Certification/License Required: Valid Georgia Driver's License
• Experience: Two years of experience as an interpreter/translator preferred
• Physical Activities: Routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities; Requires traveling to various locations and working in the evenings
• Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Written and oral communication; fluency in English and at least one other language: Spanish, Portuguese, Korean, Hindi, French, Haitian/Creole, Russian, Japanese or other languages as identified by immigrant student population; Proficiency in computer application skills

The Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.

Essential Duties

• Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
• Keeps all appointments and assignments and reports to assigned site promptly.
• Assists in the translation and interpretation of school-home meetings.
• Maintains and keeps all conferences confidential.
• Ensures school documents are completed accurately and legibly by translating information appropriately.
• Informs Coordinator immediately when interpreting sensitive and/or reportable issues.
• Encourages families to participate in school affairs and promotes school involvement.
• Attends and participates in appropriate workshops and in-service training.
• Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate administrator.
