Job summary

The MITRE Corporation in Colorado Springs invites you to join a STEM internship that blends digital and model-based engineering with real-world systems challenges. As an intern you will explore AI-enabled systems engineering, agile processes, and aerospace, mechanical, and physics applications while remaining enrolled full-time in a degree program and preparing for a security clearance.

• Foundational knowledge of systems engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering or physics methodologies, frameworks, tools and/or programming languages.
• Must have sustained excellence in academic performance.

Basic Qualifications

• Must be a student enrolled full-time pursuing an accredited degree seeking program in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics or a related degree program.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience having applied systems engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering or physics learning to an internship, research or lab setting.
• Proficiency using systems engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering or physics methodologies, frameworks, tools and/or programming languages.
• Proven ability to work independently.
• Demonstrated interest in serving the public through previous work experience, volunteer activities, or other relevant engagements.

Clearance

In addition to passing MITRE’s employment background check, you may be submitted for a U.S. Government Security clearance. This is determined by the Department of Defense’s adjudicative guidelines for receiving a clearance, to include U.S. citizenship. Other jobs may require vetting for various levels of agency public trust, fitness, suitability, controlled access, and special programs access determination consistent with the work program to which you are assigned.
