Job description

Internship, Software Developer, Integration Tools (Winter/Spring 2027)

Role Description

What to Expect

Consider before submitting an application:

This position is expected to start January 2027 and continue through the entire Winter/Spring term (i.e through April/May 2027) or into Summer 2027 if available. We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time (40 hours/week) and on-site, for most internships. Our internship program is for students who are actively enrolled in an academic program. Recent graduates seeking employment after graduation and not returning to school should apply for full-time positions, not internships.

International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school on your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week on-site. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year.

About the Team:

The Integration Platforms team develops technology to support our ever-expanding customer fleet from prototype to production. We are at an inflection point — adopting an AI-first strategy to fundamentally transform how our tools are built, maintained, and scaled. A member of this team will build AI-powered technology that interfaces with our vehicles and accelerates engineering workflows across the organization.

Examples of products we've shipped and are actively evolving include:

  • A tool to interact with any vehicle remotely, collecting status and updating software/configurations
  • A tool to analyze trillions of data points for anomalies
  • A tool to allow engineers to dynamically query the fleet and collect real-time responses to questions like "let me see data from a random sample of 100 cars currently driving at least 60 MPH with the windows down and the AC on"
  • A technology to live stream data off any vehicle, at anytime, anywhere in the world
  • A tool that automatically aggregates information from many sources surrounding an event to build a contextual timeline
  • AI agents that automate the software release cycle, feedback triage, and fleet anomaly detection
  • MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers that make our tools accessible to AI-powered development workflows
  • A centralized AI platform enabling engineers across the organization to contribute to our tools using AI-assisted development

What You'll Do

  • Help build and orchestrate AI agents and related tooling end to end
  • Develop and maintain back-end services and frameworks
  • Contribute to database design, product feature design, data modeling, and caching architecture
  • Support DevOps work (builds, deployments, CI/CD, and infrastructure)
  • Apply product security practices across the stack
  • Write and run validation (tests, quality checks, and reliability work)
  • Work across multiple product domains with a focus on AI-powered tooling

What You’ll Bring

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field with graduation between May 2027 – May 2028
  • Proficient in Go and Python, with hands-on experience building full-stack applications using web frameworks
  • Experience with backend infrastructure: relational databases, containerization, workflow orchestration, and stream processing/messaging systems
  • Experience or strong interest in building LLM-powered applications, with understanding of AI agent architectures and tool-use patterns such as MCP and function calling
  • Preferred exposure to large-scale data processing/querying and analytics
  • Strong communicator and collaborator who thrives in a fast-paced environment juggling multiple concurrent projects

As a full-time Tesla Intern, you will be eligible for:
