Job summary

Firefly Aerospace offers year-round engineering internship opportunities in Texas. You will support Responsible Engineers through all stages of component and system design, from concept sizing to detailed drawings.

You’ll gain experience by developing novel solutions and communicating effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Ideal candidates are current BS/MS students or recent graduates with strong design fundamentals and an interest in aerospace structural engineering or composites.

  • Currently enrolled in a BS or MS program in engineering or a recent graduate.
  • Willing to work in a hands-on, evolving environment.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong understanding of design fundamentals; aerospace experience is a plus.
  • Able to communicate effectively in a multidisciplinary group.

  • Develop new innovative design concepts for launch vehicle and spacecraft programs.
  • Apply engineering principles to solve technically challenging problems in structural/design areas.

SUMMARY

Firefly has year round engineering focused internship opportunities for our locations in Texas Both current undergrads and new graduates are encouraged to apply As a Firefly Intern you will support Responsible Engineers through all stages of component and system design including preliminary concept sizing detail design architecture layout and drawing creation You will have the opportunity to gain design experience by developing novel solutions for challenging problems These positions require high levels of creativity flexibility and collaboration The ability to communicate effectively within a multi disciplinary and multi cultural group is an absolute must

RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop new innovative design concepts for solving real problems related to our launch vehicle and spacecraft programsUse engineering principles and fundamentals to provide novel solutions for technically challenging problems in the Internship focus area of Structural and Mechanical Design

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Required Must be currently enrolled in either a BS or MS program or a recent graduate at an accredited four year university or college
  • Willing to work in a hands on constantly evolving environment
  • Detail oriented managing multiple priorities while maintaining focus towards a common goal
  • Strong comprehension of design fundamentals
  • Aerospace experience a plus
  • Communicates effective verbal and written
  • Able to effectively prioritize and execute tasks
  • Desired Candidates should preferably have a focus in one of the following areas 3D CAD structural design stress analysis multibody dynamics simulation
  • Demonstrated history of exposure to or interest in aerospace structural engineering andor composites
  • Current Mechanical or Aerospace engineering degree program
  • To conform to US Government space technology export regulations including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations ITAR you must be a US citizen a lawful permanent resident of the US a protected individual as defined by 8 USC 1324ba3 or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the US Department of State
