Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Mechanical Engineering degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.

  • Class project work related to MEP fields is advantageous.
  • Able to lift up to 30 lbs as part of on-site field work.

Responsibilities

  • Work on diverse HVAC design projects for commercial buildings.
  • Perform pressure drop calculations, duct sizing, and pipe sizing.
  • Conduct field surveys to collect data for design projects.
  • Collaborate with a senior team of engineers and technicians.
  • Engage in hands-on HVAC system design and layout using AutoCAD.
  • Support cost estimation for mechanical systems.
  • Assist in construction administration tasks to ensure design implementation.

Our MEP group in the Hartford, CT office is looking for a mechanical engineering intern, with an interest in Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) fields, to work on various projects. This position will afford the successful student an opportunity to explore a wide variety of MEP work. Candidates with a strong desire to work in a dynamic consulting environment are encouraged to submit their resume. Our internship program is a 12-week paid summer program. We offer in-depth work experience on real client projects in a supportive and collaborative environment. The position is full-time Monday through Friday. This is a hybrid role, offering the best of both worlds-collaborate in-office with a high-performing team and enjoy the flexibility of working remotely part of the week. Key Responsibilities
  • Project Variety: Work on diverse projects, including commercial building HVAC design.
  • Technical Calculations: Perform pressure drop calculations, duct sizing, and pipe sizing.
  • Field Surveys: Conduct field survey work to gather necessary data for design projects.
  • Collaborative Environment: Work alongside a skilled team of engineers and technicians.
  • Hands-On Design Experience: Engage in hands-on design of HVAC systems.
  • AutoCAD Proficiency: Prepare equipment layouts and designs using AutoCAD.
  • Cost Estimation: Participate in cost estimating for various mechanical systems.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Proficiency with MS Office programs
  • Class project work related to MEP fields preferred
  • Experience with AutoCAD preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. of equipment
