The Carbon Containment Lab (CC Lab) in New Haven, CT is seeking a motivated Analyst intern with a strong background in geosciences, environmental studies, engineering, data analysis, economics, policy, or finance. The role emphasizes analytical, data processing, and climate-action minded problem solving.

On-site work at our New Haven office is preferred. Internship pays $20/hr undergraduate or $25/hr graduate, with 5–15 hours per week.

Climate change is one of the most pressing challenges of our time. The Carbon Containment Lab (CC Lab) is dedicated to advancing scalable and cost-effective climate solutions.

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Analyst to join us in New Haven, Connecticut. The ideal internship candidate will have a strong background in geosciences, environmental studies, engineering, data analysis, economics, policy, and/or finance. This internship offers fantastic opportunities for an individual with outstanding analytical, data analysis, and problem-solving skills, a passion for climate action, and a creative and entrepreneurial mindset.

Interns will be expected to work 5 to 15 hours per week at a pay rate of $20/hr (undergraduate) or $25/hr (graduate).

Desire to tackle the challenge of climate change with innovative and interdisciplinary approaches.

Demonstrated interest in areas including climate change mitigation and adaptation, carbon removal/reduction, environmental policy/science, and clean energy and technology.

Flexible, creative thinker who can learn quickly and apply new concepts to solve climate problems.

Proactive self‑starter, resourceful, detail‑oriented, with the abilities to multi‑task, learn quickly, stay organized, and work in a startup environment.

Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, as well as written and verbal communication skills.

Familiarity with spatial analysis tools (such as QGIS, ArcGIS, or Google Earth Engine), data processing or statistical analysis tools (such as R, Python, Excel, or STATA), or data visualization tools.

Interest in and ability to work from the CC Lab’s office in New Haven, Connecticut.

Preferred Experience

Working with carbon capture, utilization, and storage technologies or with conducting technical evaluations, environmental policy research, or environmental engineering projects.

Conducting far‑ranging research and academic literature reviews.

Supporting work streams on life cycle assessments, techno‑economic assessments, or environmental impact studies.

Delivering excellence in collaborative and independent settings.

Interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis from August to early September with final decisions made by mid‑September.

Internship Dates: September 21, 2026 – December 5, 2026.

Location of the Internship: the CC Lab’s office in New Haven, Connecticut.

About the CCLab

The CC Lab is a forward‑thinking climate nonprofit based in New Haven, dedicated to scaling climate solutions by applying scientific, entrepreneurial, and investment expertise. Our current focus is on advancing the understanding and adoption of high‑potential climate interventions, including methane measurement and mitigation, carbon dioxide removal and storage, and the recovery and destruction of ultra‑potent greenhouse gases.

Founded at the Yale School of the Environment in 2020, the CC Lab spun out as an independent nonprofit in early 2024.

The CC Lab has fourteen dedicated members supported by a broad network of external collaborators, advisors, consultants, and interns. We are fortunate to work in a bright, modern, and vibrant office space in downtown New Haven, close to Yale University, where about a dozen students contribute as part‑time interns during the school year and over the summer.
