Job summary

The Berg Group is seeking a Construction Estimator Intern to assist the Estimating Team by projecting materials, equipment, and labor to build accurate project budgets. You will collaborate with the Chief Estimator to prepare competitive budgets and present them to clients through the Project Manager.

You will review plans, perform take-offs, and help ensure proposals are complete while addressing risks. Strong communication and attention to detail are essential in this role.

Responsibilities

• Review weekly bid list to ensure bidding on right opportunities and prioritize preferred clients.
• Review project plans and specifications to develop an estimate of materials, labor, equipment, and other expenses.
• Conduct accurate take-offs from blueprints to define scope and stay within guidelines.
• Review scope and instructions to bidders to ensure complete proposals and addressed risks.
• Adhere to bid review processes and edit bids as needed.
• Collaborate with Lead Estimator on bid margins and support adjustments as needed.

The Construction Estimator Intern will work closely with our Estimating Team to create project specifications by accurately projecting the number of materials, equipment, and man-hours that must be utilized to complete a given project. This role will work closely with the Chief Estimator to create a competitive project budget that is presented to clients by the owning Project Manager. The Construction Estimator intern will ensure accurate communication of changes are priced and acknowledged.

Essential Functions

• Manage review of weekly bid list to ensure the team is bidding the right opportunities and our preferred clients are receiving priority on bid activity.
• Reviews project plans and specifications to get comfortable with the work and begin the development of an estimate (Price materials, labor, equipment, and other expenses to be included in the project budget for submittal).
• Accurate take-off of blueprints to include the scope necessary to be competitive and adhere to company guidelines.
• Review scope of work and instructions to bidders to ensure our proposals are complete and all risk is addressed before submitting a proposal.
• Adheres to the bid review process and makes necessary edits to bids as needed.

• Sedentary work involves lifting no more than 10 - 15 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying.

• Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required occasionally, and other sedentary criteria are met.
