1X is recruiting a CNC Machine Park Intern to support the manufacturing floor in Hayward, CA. You’ll assist with daily setup, loading parts, and tool handling while learning to read drawings and basic G-code. This role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and hands-on growth on real robotics hardware.

You’ll work alongside experienced operators to develop machining fundamentals and inspections, with a path toward a full-time technical position in a hands-on robotics environment.

Qualifications

• Genuine interest in manufacturing and a desire to learn CNC operations from the ground up.
• Comfortable working in a hands-on shop environment with machines, tools, and physical materials.
• Reliable and detail-oriented — consistent attendance and effort are non-negotiable.
• Eager to grow into a full-time technical role in a robotics-focused manufacturing setting.
• Prior coursework, vocational training, or hobby experience with machining, fabrication, or shop tools.
• Basic familiarity with reading mechanical drawings, GD&T, or G-code.
• Exposure to inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) in school, hobby, or work setting.
• Interest in robotics, automation, or advanced manufacturing.

Responsibilities

About the Team

Our Manufacturing team is where NEO physically comes to life. The CNC Machine Park is the heartbeat of in-house part production — every bracket, housing, and precision component that makes NEO move starts here. Joining this team means sitting at the intersection of craft and scale, where the parts you help produce go directly into the robots shipping to real homes.

Your Charter

Help us build an abundant supply of physical labor by learning to produce the precision parts that bring safe, intelligent humanoids to life. As a CNC Machine Park Intern, you’ll be embedded in the day-to-day operations of our machining floor — supporting experienced operators and programmers, building the fundamentals of machining and inspection, and growing into a technical contributor on the team manufacturing NEO at scale.

Key Outcomes

• Support consistent machine uptime by assisting with daily setup, part loading, tool handling, and routine maintenance across the CNC machine park.

• Contribute to quality output by learning to read part drawings, interpret basic G-code, and perform first-look inspections on finished parts.

• Maintain a workshop environment that is clean, organized, and safe — held to a standard the whole team can rely on.

• Grow into progressively more technical responsibilities over the course of the internship, with the goal of becoming a strong candidate for a full-time technical role.

• Be a dependable presence on the floor — showing up, following through, and earning trust shift by shift.
