Job summary

Shive-Hattery is a full-service architecture and engineering firm seeking a Civil Intern to support projects from concept through completion. You’ll collaborate with cross- functional teams and contribute to high-quality solutions while being paired with a mentor for professional growth.

You will gain hands-on experience on site design, utility design, and water resources for industrial, education, and commercial clients, with opportunities to learn and advance in a supportive environment.

This experience will help expand your professional skill set and strengthen your portfolio, setting you up for future success.

As an intern, you will be paired with a mid-to-senior level employee who will serve as your mentor. This mentor/mentee relationship is designed to foster a supportive environment where you can candidly discuss your career goals and aspirations. Our one-on‑one informal mentoring approach fosters the development of professional relationships that complement your academic learning, enriching your overall internship experience.

You will work on a variety of project types including site design, utility design, and water resources for different clients like industrial, higher education, and commercial.These experiences will provide insights into the profession, collaborative teamwork, and serving the needs of our clients.

This position is primarily performed in an office or hybrid environment and may require travel to project sites, other Shive-Hattery office locations or to meet with clients. A full clean driver’s license is required. The role involves sitting, standing, and working at a computer for extended periods. May also require lifting light to medium weight objects of up to 50 lbs., the wearing of PPE and navigating active construction sites. [NOTE- add in confined spaces / ladder work etc. here as appropriate] Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this role.
