Job description

We are an AI-powered agricultural robotics company wholly owned by Taylor Farms that is transforming how food is grown. Our core product is an autonomous field robot that uses advanced computer vision and machine learning to detect and eliminate weeds, improving crop health, reducing chemical use, and boosting farm productivity. These robots operate daily across large-scale vegetable farms in regions like Salinas, CA and Yuma, AZ.

Behind these intelligent machines is a growing ecosystem of internal tools that enable our teams to monitor fleet performance, maintain system health, and continuously improve operations. This includes systems for robot telemetry, OTA software and firmware updates, calibration workflows, and maintenance tracking across electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic subsystems.

We're looking for an Internal Tools Engineer who is excited to build the software systems that power our internal operations. This is an ideal role for someone early in their career who wants to work at the intersection of software, robotics, and real-world field operations while learning from a highly cross-functional team.

What You'll Do

Build and maintain internal tools used by engineers, technicians, and operators to monitor and manage the robot fleet.

Develop dashboards and workflows that provide visibility into robot performance, computer vision accuracy, and operational health in the field.

Support systems for robot-cloud communication, including telemetry pipelines, diagnostics, and real-time status reporting.

Contribute to tools that manage OTA software and firmware deployments, update systems, including version control and rollout tracking.

Work with robotics, perception, and ML engineers to support data collection, validation, and feedback loops that improve model performance.

Develop tools to support calibration processes and ongoing maintenance of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic subsystems.

Collaborate closely with field teams in Salinas and Yuma to understand operational challenges and rapidly iterate on solutions.

Provide real time support for our fleet of robots, operators and technicians ensuring their optimal operation during the season.

Write clean, maintainable code and contribute to best practices in testing, deployment, and system reliability.

Work at least 3 days a week from either the Santa Clara or Salinas offices with regular travel to both locations and occasional travel to Yuma during the Winter season.

What You Bring

0-2 years of experience in software engineering (including internships, academic projects, or personal projects).

Knowledge of Linux fundamentals including file systems, processes, and command-line tools.

Experience building web applications that include complex visualizations, data processing, and backend APIs.

Interest in working with real-world data, distributed systems, or hardware-integrated software.

Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to collaborate across disciplines, including software, hardware, and field operations teams.

Bonus points for experience or exposure to robotics, IoT systems, cloud platforms, or data visualization tools.

The desire to spend time in the vegetable fields of Salinas, CA and Yuma, AZ working directly with our robots and operations team members

Why Join Us

Be part of a team building cutting-edge AI and robotics technology that is transforming agriculture.

Work on systems that directly impact real-world operations in the field every day.

Learn from a highly collaborative, interdisciplinary team spanning software, hardware, AI, and operations.

Gain hands-on experience with robotics systems, fleet management, and production-scale deployments early in your career.

Grow in an environment that values ownership, curiosity, and continuous learning.
