Job summary

Diasorin is seeking an Internal Service Specialist I to provide service and support for diagnostic instruments at our Stillwater, Minnesota site. You will diagnose issues, perform repairs, run release testing, process documentation, and manage parts while collaborating with a tight-knit eight-person team.

Initial focus is molecular diagnostic equipment with room to progress to larger immunodiagnostic devices after training.

Qualifications

• REQUIRED MINIMUM: H.S. Diploma required
• PREFERRED: 2 year degree or higher in Biomedical Equipment Technology, AA Electronics, Engineering Technician or equivalent.
• Hands on experience performing repairs
• Experience with pipetting preferred
• Experience with preventative maintenance and troubleshooting with reference to manufacturer’s manual
• Willingness to contribute to service process improvement
• Ability and willingness to demonstrate and explain correct operation of equipment
• Excellent interpersonal/communication skills and the ability to handle multiple activities in a professional manner
• Knowledge and skill in installing, servicing, troubleshooting, repairing, calibration, and maintaining medical diagnostic or clinical laboratory instrumentation
• Knowledge and understanding of electronics, medical terminology, chemistry, and physics
• Knowledge and understanding of basic immunology and immunoassay technology
• Working knowledge of good manufacturing practices (cGMPs)
• Understanding of good laboratory practices and techniques
• Knowledge of and skill in using Microsoft Office applications

Responsibilities

Job Scope

The Internal Service Specialist I provides service/support to customers, internal service engineers and other DiaSorin personnel with instrument maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, repair, work order review and training. This position is based onsite in Stillwater, Minnesota

The Internal Service Specialist repairs and runs quality control on medical diagnostic equipment at an internal repair center. Devices arrive broken from customers and the specialist diagnoses issues, performs repairs, runs release testing assays, processes paperwork, and ships equipment back to customers. The role is positioned as foundational work within a medical device repair operation, with progression opportunities to work on larger and more complex immunodiagnostic equipment after initial training on molecular diagnostic devices.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair diagnostic equipment;
• Run quality control assays on devices (release testing);
• Enter and process service documentation in internal software systems;
• Manage spare parts and consumable inventory ordering;
• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment;
• Contribute to team coordination and support; maintain lab cleanliness and housekeeping standards.
• Participate in service call escalation process to avoid instrument replacements.
• Actively facilitate in sharing of information across the organization in a way that results in good coordination of actions and decisions, and continuous improvement of results and performance.
• Promote through interactions an environment that supports trusting relationships and ethical leadership.
• Take responsibility for customer satisfaction through proper use of soft/people skills and engage the support of other personnel as required.
• Follow established Diasorin’s compliance procedures designed to ensure that all regulatory requirements are met; activities may include audits, documentation, and the understanding of the requirements of agencies such as OSHA, EPA, NRC, and FDA.
• Be coachable in technical aspects and techniques for the instrumentation being serviced.

Scope of work:

• Initial focus on molecular diagnostic equipment, with progression to larger immunodiagnostic machines as experience grows. Three medical devices are currently available with at least two more coming soon, creating a diverse caseload. Work involves both routine repairs and novel troubleshooting as equipment varies.
• Collaboration with eight-person team including a lead and senior technician; indirect relationship with external customers sending devices for repair

Working Conditions Physical Demands, Travel, etc.

• Ability to lift 25 pounds
• Must be able to stand in a laboratory or training environment for up to 4 hours at a time
• Must be able to use proper Personal Protective Equipment including face masks, safety goggles, lab coats, gloves, and steel-toe boots when necessary
• Spend periods of time doing repetitive motion while using a computer.
• 5% of travel may be required
• Must have a valid driver's license

The hourly range for this position is $24.18 - $37.74 /Hourly.
