Job summary

Lunenburg County Public Schools is seeking an Esports Coach (Internal Only) at Lunenburg Middle School in Victoria, VA. This part-time supplemental coaching position will oversee practices, recruit students, and guide teams in esports competitions.

The coach will implement game strategies, promote teamwork and digital citizenship, and ensure adherence to LCPS and VHSL rules. Training and supervision responsibilities are included.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Knowledge of or interest in competitive esports and gaming.
• Experience in coaching, esports, gaming, technology, or working with students preferred.
• Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work effectively with middle and/or high school students.
• Ability to learn and understand the games, competition platforms, rules, and procedures used by the esports program.
• Willingness to complete required LCPS and VHSL training, including applicable esports rules clinics.
• Ability to provide appropriate student supervision and promote a positive and inclusive team environment.
• Must meet all LCPS requirements for employment and/or supplemental coaching positions.

Responsibilities

• Maintains knowledge of and follows applicable LCPS and VHSL rules, regulations, and competition procedures.
• Monitors student eligibility and participation requirements.
• Provides appropriate supervision of students during all practices, competitions, and team activities.
• Coordinates competition schedules, team registrations, rosters, and other program requirements with school administration.
• Works collaboratively with school administration and technology staff regarding equipment, software, network access, and other technology needs.
• Assists with the proper use, care, inventory, and security of esports equipment and gaming systems.
• Promotes responsible use of school technology and appropriate digital citizenship.
• Communicates effectively with students, parents/guardians, administrators, staff, and other participating schools as appropriate.
• Establishes and maintains expectations for student conduct, teamwork, attendance, and sportsmanship.
• Promotes a positive team culture that reflects the expectations and values of Lunenburg County Public Schools.
• Attends required meetings, training sessions, playoffs, championships, and other program-related activities.
• Performs other duties related to the esports program as assigned by the principal or designee.

Position Type: Supplemental/Coaching Position

JOB GOAL

To provide leadership, supervision, and instruction for the school esports program while promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, communication, strategic thinking, responsible digital citizenship, and positive student participation. The Esports Coach will organize and oversee practices and competitions and ensure that the program operates in accordance with LCPS expectations and applicable VHSL requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS (LCPS Employee)

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
