Cerro Alto Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Hospital in San Luis Obispo, CA, is seeking an experienced Internal Medicine RVT to join our 24/7 specialty and emergency team. You will work closely with board-certified internists, provide hands-on nursing care, assist with diagnostics, treatments, and client communication.

Qualifications

• RVT license required.
• Experience in specialty, emergency, or high-acuity hospitals preferred.
• Experience with patient monitoring and anesthesia recovery.
• Ability to multitask and stay calm in a fast-paced setting.
• Interest in ongoing learning and professional growth.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient intake, collect histories, and present cases to the internist.
• Coordinate diagnostics, laboratory testing, and imaging.
• Provide hands-on nursing care and assist with medical treatments and procedures.
• Monitor hospitalized and outpatient patients and recognize changes in condition.
• Develop and maintain detailed treatment plans and medical records.
• Communicate with clients regarding patient updates, care plans, and discharge instructions.
• Coordinate with the internist to prepare and fill prescribed medications for patients.
• Collaborate daily with ER/ICU and other specialty services to provide coordinated patient care.
• Mentor and support junior Veterinary Assistants, Hospital Assistants, and other team members.
• Float to other departments as needed based on daily caseload and hospital needs.
