Job summary

Qualifications

A physician who provides long-term, comprehensive care in the office and the hospital, managing both common and complex illnesses of adolescents, adults and the elderly. Trained in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer, infections and diseases affecting the heart, blood, kidneys, joints and digestive, respiratory and vascular systems. Also trained in the essentials of primary care internal medicine, which incorporates an understanding of disease prevention, wellness, substance abuse, mental health and effective treatment of common problems of the eyes, ears, skin, nervous system and reproductive organs. We are seeking an Internist Medicine or Family Medicine–trained physician to join our Pre-Anesthesia Testing (PAT) department. This position is dedicated to the comprehensive medical evaluation, risk assessment, and optimization of patients undergoing surgical procedures, with a focus on improving perioperative outcomes.

The PAT physician serves as a key member of the multidisciplinary perioperative team, evaluating patients with complex medical conditions, reviewing diagnostic testing and specialty consultations, assessing perioperative risk, and implementing evidence-based strategies to optimize chronic medical comorbidities prior to surgery. Responsibilities include identifying and managing issues that may affect surgical readiness, coordinating additional preoperative workup when necessary, and providing recommendations regarding medication management, cardiovascular risk reduction, diabetes management, anticoagulation, pulmonary optimization, and other perioperative considerations.
