Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive primary care to a panel of adult patients, managing your own panel and/or co-managing patients with other physicians.
• Diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions, and provide preventive care, health maintenance, and chronic disease management.
• Perform and record patient history and physical exam; form assessment and plan, including ordering tests and coordinating care.
• Respond to labs, imaging, and other studies promptly and address patient questions and messages within required timeframes.
• Build strong, trusting relationships with patients, focusing on holistic care and long-term wellness.
• Collaborate with advanced practice providers, nurses, medical assistants, and staff to deliver team-based care.
• Maintain practice in accordance with state and federal regulations and stay current with evolving evidence-based practice.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical

• Deliver comprehensive primary care to a panel of adult patients, managing your own panel and/or co-managing patients with other physicians in the practice.
• Diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions, and provide preventive care, health maintenance, and chronic disease management.
• Perform and record the patient history and physical exam; form an assessment and plan, which may include ordering appropriate testing and imaging, consulting with specialists, or coordinating care with the broader team.
• Act upon labs, imaging, and other studies promptly, and respond to patient questions and messages within the requisite time frame.
• Build strong, trusting relationships with patients, focusing on holistic care and long-term wellness.
• Collaborate with advanced practice providers, the medical support team, and administrative staff to deliver expert, team-based care.
• Maintain and practice in accordance with applicable state and federal regulations, and keep clinical knowledge and skills current with evolving evidence-based practice.

Administrative

• Maintain accurate and thorough documentation in the electronic health record within the requisite time frame and in compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.
• Serve as a clinical resource to advanced practice providers, nurses, medical assistants, and staff, and participate in care when indicated.
• Participate and contribute as a member of the care team, promoting mutual cooperation and collegial relationships among all staff.
• Promote an environment that is sensitive to the culturally diverse needs of patients and employees.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from a medical school accredited by the LCME or the AOA. International medical graduates must hold ECFMG certification and training the Board deems equivalent.
• Completion of an ACGME- or AOA-accredited residency in Internal Medicine.
• Board certification or board eligibility in Internal Medicine (ABIM or AOBIM).
• Demonstrated commitment to patient-centered, high-quality, value-based care, with strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience with electronic health record systems such as Epic or eClinicalWorks; experienced and newly trained physicians are both welcome to apply.

Massachusetts Licensure & Credentialing Requirements

To practice as an Internal Medicine physician in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the successful candidate must hold or be able to obtain the following:

• Massachusetts Medical License: An active, full, unrestricted physician license issued by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine (BORIM) under 243 CMR, permitting independent practice.
• FCVS Credential Verification: Primary source verification of core credentials (identity, medical education, postgraduate training, and examination history) through the Federation Credentials Verification Service (FCVS), as required of all Massachusetts full-license applicants.
• Federal DEA Registration: A current U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration to prescribe federally controlled substances in Schedules II through V.
• Massachusetts Controlled Substances Registration (MCSR): A valid MCSR issued by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, required to prescribe, dispense, or administer controlled substances in the Commonwealth (Schedules II through VI).
• Continuing Medical Education (CME): Compliance with the Massachusetts biennial CME requirement of a minimum of 50 credits per licensing cycle, including required content in risk management, opioid education and pain management (for prescribers of controlled substances), end-of-life care, implicit bias, and electronic health records.
• Other Credentials: Current BLS certification (ACLS as applicable to clinical duties), good moral character, and successful completion of a criminal background check (CORI) and credentialing review.

Note: Massachusetts physician licenses renew biennially. Requirements are summarized for convenience and are subject to change; the BORIM regulations (243 CMR) and Massachusetts Department of Public Health govern in all cases.

Compensation

Advertised Salary Range: $207,000 – $290,000 per year Final compensation is commensurate with experience, qualifications, and clinical FTE. Range reflects the current Massachusetts market for primary care physicians.
