Job description

The Department of General Internal Medicine & Geriatrics at Cleveland Clinic is seeking a board certified Internist for their National Consult Program, integrated within our academic outpatient Internal Medicine (IM) practice at our main campus.

The National Consult Program's mission is to provide efficient expert consultations for patients originating from across the country and internationally, working collaboratively with specialty colleagues in the development and communication of a care plan to patients and their local physician. Ideal candidates will have significant clinical experience to help provide comprehensive diagnostic assessments for patients traveling for world class care. Visits are preplanned with a dedicated support team.

The program is integrated within our academic primary care practice located at our main campus, which was the first Joint Commission certified primary care medical home in the country. Our practice uses a fully integrated electronic health record and is focused on quality improvement and innovation in care delivery. Team based care occurs with medical assistants, RNs, administrative assistants, integrated PharmDs, LISWs, RN care coordinators, and a Certified Diabetes Educator.

As part of our academic practice, numerous opportunities exist for teaching our medical students and residents from the largest IM residency program in the country. Academic appointment within Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine is available. Opportunities to also participate on our inpatient teaching service and/or with a blend of primary care and walk-in care exist as well, according to interest.

Outstanding benefits with exceptional schedule, including minimal call and no regular weekends. Robust, free CME-based resources for professional development including leadership, education, and management tracks as well as a formal coaching and mentoring program available for faculty. Tail coverage provided and no restrictive covenant.
