Job summary

Ball State University is seeking an Internal Audit Specialist to lead risk-based audits and deliver action-oriented recommendations. You will work with the Director of Internal Audit and Advisory Services, coordinating with campus stakeholders and applying Ball State Audit Methodology.

The role requires 1–3 years of audit experience in higher education, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple audits with limited supervision. Start date is ASAP.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Auditing, Finance, Information Systems, or related discipline.
• 1–3 years internal auditing experience in a university or related environment.
• Understanding of Indiana and federal laws relevant to higher education.
• Strong written and verbal communication demonstrating clarity and collaboration.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and execute risk-based audit projects with limited supervision.
• Research statutes, regulations, and guidelines affecting audits.
• Develop testing programs and document working papers.
• Communicate audit results clearly to management and stakeholders.
• Cultivate relationships with campus stakeholders and coordinate team efforts.
• Incorporate data analytics to drive audit efficiencies.
