Job summary

GFT in State College, PA is seeking a Water Engineering Intern to join our water team and assist with design, planning, and construction administration for water and municipal infrastructure projects.

You will work under experienced engineers, participate in site visits, prepare reports and drawings using AutoCAD and Office tools, and contribute to projects from planning through execution during the May–August timeframe. The internship often leads to full-time opportunities.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in an ABET-accredited undergraduate or graduate program in Civil, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering.
• Demonstrated interest in water/wastewater engineering through prior internships, work experiences, or coursework.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work in the field and contribute to project teams.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Familiarity with BIM, Civil 3D, GIS, hydraulic/hydrologic modeling, and other specialty engineering software.
• Experience with municipal and private utilities is a plus.

What you'll be challenged to do:
During your internship, you will work on a highly functioning team and aid in providing design services for a wide variety of projects. You'll receive guidance, supervision and mentorship by experienced engineers and professionals with your success as the goal. The majority of our interns convert to full-time employees.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

What you’ll bring to our firm:

What we prefer you bring:

• Familiarity with BIM, Civil 3D, GIS, hydraulic/hydrologic modeling, and other specialty engineering software.
• Experience with municipal and private utilities is a plus.

Compensation:

The salary range for this role is $21.00 - $28.00 per hour. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
