Job summary

Hitachi Rail Limited is seeking an enthusiastic Intern – Traction Power in Pearl City, Hawaii. The role offers real-world projects, paid status, and mentorship within a global leader in rail technology.

You will gain hands-on experience across traction power systems and signaling domains while supporting the team on a variety of tasks. The position runs May 2027 through August 2027, demanding strong technical curiosity, attention to detail, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with a graduation date between Dec 2027 and Dec 2028.
• Fluent in English (written and verbal).
• Available to work 40 hours per week onsite in Pearl City, HI.

Responsibilities

• Gain practical experience in Traction Power systems, substations, UPS, power distribution and rail transit operations.
• Support engineering and project teams with day-to-day tasks and real-world projects.

Accountabilities

Electrical Engineering background who can gain practical experience in Traction Power systems, substations, UPS systems, power distribution, and rail transit operations.

Required Skills & Experience

• Proficient with Microsoft 360 applications – Word, Excel, Teams, etc.
• Strong relevant technical skills
• Attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Problem anticipation and solving techniques, strong at troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of and ability to analyze electrical schematics.
• Must be available to work 40 hours per week onsite

Education

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree Electrical Engineering with a graduation date between December 2027 and December 2028.

Languages

• Fluent in English, both written and verbal.

The hourly rate for this role is $22.00 per hour.
