Job summary

Hitachi Rail is seeking an enthusiastic Intern – Traction Power in Pearl City, HI. You will perform a range of tasks from administrative to technical, gaining hands-on experience in Traction Power, substations, UPS, and rail transit operations.

Current Electrical Engineering student with a graduation window of Dec 2027–Dec 2028, bilingual strong communication, and a drive to learn in a global leader advancing digital transformation.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering with graduation between Dec 2027 and Dec 2028.
• Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Teams).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with ability to multi-task.
• Able to work 40 hours per week onsite at Pearl City, HI.

Responsibilities

• Gain practical experience in Traction Power systems and related equipment.
• Support substations, UPS systems, power distribution, and rail transit operations.
• Assist with project documentation, data collection and reporting.
• Collaborate with team members on real-world signaling and urban transit projects.

Accountabilities

Electrical Engineering background who can gain practical experience in Traction Power systems, substations, UPS systems, power distribution, and rail transit operations.

Required Skills & Experience

• Proficient with Microsoft 360 applications – Word, Excel, Teams, etc.
• Strong relevant technical skills
• Attention to detail and ability to multi-task.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Problem anticipation and solving techniques, strong at troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of and ability to analyze electrical schematics.
• Must be available to work 40 hours per week onsite

Education

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree Electrical Engineering with a graduation date between December 2027 and December 2028.

Languages

• Fluent in English, both written and verbal.

The hourly rate for this role is $22.00 per hour.
