Job summary

Corning is seeking a Summer 2027 Intern in Thermal Equipment Design in Painted Post, NY. You will work independently and with cross-functional teams on the design, engineering, procurement, installation, start-up, commissioning and handover of mechanical systems.

Responsibilities include drafting and computer modeling, project documentation, and assisting with housing and travel; design mechanical components and assemblies and identify suitable equipment and components.

Qualifications

• Capable of domestic travel.
• Junior in bachelor’s Mechanical Engineering program or higher.
• Demonstrated CAD experience with SolidWorks.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
• Industrial or intern experience preferred.
• Project management experience is a plus.

Role Purpose

Summer 2027 Intern position working independently and in cross functional teams, participates in the design, engineering, procurement, installation, start up, commissioning and handover of mechanical systems such as:

• Batch Delivery Systems
• Thermal Process Services
• Thermal Equipment Design

Role within Group:

Key Responsibilities

On a daily basis the incumbent in this position will be expected to:

• Design mechanical components and assemblies
• Specify or otherwise identify commercially available equipment/system components

Travel/Work Hours

• Some travel may be required for this position. The amount depends on the project location and scope.
• Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time: Standard, 40 hrs./wk. Monday - Friday, 8-5. Overtime for meetings and travel as needed.

Experiences/Education - Required

• Capable of domestic travel
• Junior in bachelor’s Mechanical Engineering program or higher

The range for this position is $1,635.00 - $3,185.00biweekly. Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
