Job summary

Sephora Internship in Technology, AI Platform Infrastructure is a 10-week remote program designed for early-career developers. You will join the Cloud, Infrastructure & Platform Engineering team and work on foundations that enable reliable, secure, observable and scalable AI solutions.

As an Intern, you will learn the AI platform, collaborate with cloud, platform, DevOps, and AI engineers, and produce measurable improvements.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a technical field such as CS, CE, IS, DS, or applied math.
• Foundational programming or scripting experience in Python, Java, Go, JavaScript/TypeScript, Bash.

Responsibilities

• Learn the current AI platform architecture, infrastructure standards and security expectations.
• Build and test an infrastructure/automation proof of concept in a controlled environment.
• Instrument the solution with logs, metrics, and dashboards to show reliability and performance.
• Evaluate tradeoffs in reliability, scalability, and cost and document findings with setup guides and diagrams.
• Present results and lessons learned at internship culmination.

Position title

Intern, Technology, AI Platform Infrastructure

Your role at Sephora

As the Intern, Technology, AI Platform Infrastructure, you will join the Cloud, Infrastructure & Platform Engineering team and contribute to the foundations that make AI and agentic solutions reliable, secure, observable, scalable, and easy to adopt. You will partner with platform engineers to turn AI platform concepts into tested infrastructure patterns, automation, operational documentation, and measurable demonstrations.

What you will accomplish

• Learn the current AI platform architecture, infrastructure standards, security expectations, and engineering workflows, then partner with cloud, platform, DevOps, SRE, and AI engineering stakeholders to define a clear problem and measurable acceptance criteria.
• Build and test a focused, production-mind‑ed infrastructure or automation proof of concept in a controlled non-production environment using infrastructure-as-code, version control, code review, automated testing, and secure configuration practices.
• Instrument the solution with meaningful logs, metrics, traces, or dashboards that show how health, reliability, usage, performance, or cost behavior is detected and measured.
• Evaluate reliability, scalability, operational cost, supportability, failure handling, and recovery tradeoffs, and document findings through setup guidance, runbooks, architecture diagrams, test evidence, and a handoff package.
• Present the project outcome, evidence, lessons learned, and recommended next steps at the internship culmination.

Qualifications & experience

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical field.
• Foundational programming or scripting experience in Python, Java, Go, JavaScript/TypeScript, Bash, or a comparable language.
• Basic understanding of Linux, networking, APIs, Git, cloud computing, containers, or CI/CD concepts through coursework, projects, or prior experience.
• Ability to break down problems, learn unfamiliar technology, document work clearly, and communicate with technical and non-technical audiences.
• Interest in AI infrastructure, platform engineering, cloud engineering, DevOps, SRE, developer experience, or distributed systems.
• Exposure to one or more cloud platforms, infrastructure-as-code or CI/CD tools, containers, observability concepts, secure software development, or AI/ML platform technologies.

Eligibility requirements

• Graduating in 2027 or 2028 (undergraduate or graduate degree)
• Work schedule must align with 9-5PM, Pacific Standard Time
• Must permanently reside and work in the U.S.
• Must be open to relocating to the San Francisco Bay Area upon graduation for consideration for full-time hybrid positions*
• Available from June 14 - August 20, 2027

What You’ll Get

The target hourly pay for this position is $30.00 - $30.00. The actual hourly pay offered depends on various factors, which may include, as applicable, the individual applicant’s qualifications for the position; years of relevant experience; specific and unique skills; level of education attained; certifications or other professional licenses held; other legitimate, non-discriminatory business factors specific to the position; and the geographic location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will perform the job.
