Job summary

General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems invites undergraduates to join our Lincoln, NE facility as an Intern, Technical Support (NDT Technician). This year-round internship provides hands-on experience in non-destructive testing within a manufacturing environment.

Interns work with technical staff, learn procedures, and contribute to data collection, testing setup, and reporting while developing teamwork and communication skills essential for a career in quality and engineering support.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in related technical courses or be within 6 months of graduation; No prior experience needed.
• Pursuing an Associate Degree in NonDestructive Testing.
• Completed Radiation Safety training meets Nebraska DHHS requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provides support to technical employees in intern's area of study.
• Assists with technical tasks and project support.
• Supports equipment setup and monitors tests and experiments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Working towards completion of an Associate Degree in NonDestructive Testing.
• Completed Radiation Safety training through an approved curriculum that meets the requirements of the Department of Health and Human Services for the State of Nebraska.
• This is a Year-Round Internship located on-site at our facility in Lincoln, NE.

Required Qualifications:

• Required education and experience: Must be currently enrolled in related Technical courses or be within 6 months of graduation; No prior experience needed.
• Must be enrolled in a technical college or degree-seeking program.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge, skills & abilities: Ability to work as part of a team. Oral and written communication skills. Attentiveness. Ability to understand and follow directions.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
• Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
• May need to stand for long periods of time.
• Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
• This position is Safety-Sensitive.
