Job summary

NISC in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a entry-level IT Support Technician to troubleshoot Windows desktops and assist users across our enterprise systems. You will resolve issues, join PCs to domains, install NISC software, and provide phone and remote support in an ACD environment.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma (pursuing IT degree preferred), basic knowledge of Windows and Linux, TCP/IP networking, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Pursuing Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in information technology or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and resolve Windows desktop operating system issues.
  • Join PCs to Windows domains.
  • Install and troubleshoot NISC software on customer PCs.
  • Virus and/or spyware removal.
  • Utilize remote connectivity tools such as Remote Desktop to assist with support items.
  • Create and test printers on Windows and Linux servers.
  • Provide customer phone support as part of an ACD environment.
  • Monitor Windows and Linux servers via Xymon monitoring tools.
  • Log and develop action plans for support issues identified by Xymon.

Essential Functions
  • Troubleshoot and resolve Windows desktop operating system issues, including:
    • Join PCs to Windows domains.
    • Install and troubleshoot NISC software on customer PCs.
    • Virus and/or spyware removal.
    • Utilize remote connectivity tools such as Remote Desktop to assist with support items.
  • Create and test printers on Windows and Linux servers.
  • Provide customer phone support as part of an ACD (Automatic Call Distribution) environment.
  • Monitor Windows and Linux servers via Xymon monitoring tools.
  • Log and develop action plans for support issues identified by Xymon.

Desired Education and/or Certification(s)
  • High Schooldiploma or equivalency required
