Job summary

Benchmark Electronics in Phoenix/Tempe is seeking a Supply Chain Planning Intern to support production scheduling, vendor and inventory management, and supply chain analysis. This role offers hands-on learning and exposure to end-to-end planning while developing real-world skills in a manufacturing environment.

The internship is part-time (20-30 hours/week) with a schedule Mon-Fri 7:30am-3:30pm, and pay of 21 USD per hour. High-performing interns may be considered for future full-time roles.

Qualifications

• Must be a current student pursuing a degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related field.
• Experience with data analysis and MS Excel encouraged.
• Interest in supply chain planning and manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

• Analyze MRP outputs to identify shortages, excess inventory, and demand-driven requirements.
• Create manufacturing work orders to support demand, inventory targets and capacity.
• Generate Outside Processing (OSP) purchase orders for subcontracted operations.
• Coordinate with OSP suppliers to manage orders, delivery and capacity.
• Monitor supplier performance and escalate risks or delays to planning team.
• Collaborate with Program Management, Production, and Operations to adjust schedules.
• Assist in evaluating impact of schedule changes on production plans and customer delivery dates.
• Support kitting and material availability with Logistics and Production teams.
• Maintain ERP data and provide status updates to stakeholders.
• Assist with cycle counts and improve inventory accuracy.
• Develop reports tracking demand, supply, production status, and KPIs.
• Participate in cross-functional meetings to learn end-to-end processes.

Summary of Position

As a Supply Chain Planning Intern, you will work alongside experienced planners and operations leaders to support production scheduling, vendor management, inventory management, and supply chain analysis. This internship offers a unique opportunity to develop real-world skills while gaining exposure to the end-to-end supply chain process. Supply Chain Planning Intern Responsibilities (including but not limited to)

• Analyze Material Requirements Planning (MRP) outputs to identify material shortages, excess inventory, and demand-driven supply requirements while supporting production schedules.
• Review planning recommendations and create manufacturing work orders to support customer demand, inventory targets, and production capacity requirements.
• Generate Outside Processing (OSP) purchase orders for subcontracted operations such as machining, plating, painting, coating, assembly, or other value-added services required to complete customer orders.
• Coordinate with OSP suppliers to manage order status, delivery commitments, capacity constraints, and expedite requests to ensure on-time completion of production requirements.
• Monitor supplier performance metrics, including delivery accuracy, lead time adherence, and responsiveness, and communicate risks or delays to the planning team.
• Collaborate with Program Management, Production, and Operations teams to support schedule adjustments resulting from changing customer priorities, material availability issues, or capacity constraints.
• Assist planners and schedulers in evaluating the impact of schedule changes on production plans, supplier commitments, and customer delivery dates.
• Partner with Logistics and Production teams to coordinate kitting activities, ensuring materials are available, organized, and staged to support manufacturing schedules.
• Track work orders and purchase orders through the production process, maintaining accurate ERP system data and providing status updates to internal stakeholders.
• Support inventory accuracy initiatives by researching discrepancies, validating transaction data, and assisting with cycle count investigations.
• Develop and maintain reports using Microsoft Excel and ERP system tools to track demand, supply, production status, supplier performance, and key supply chain metrics.
• Participate in cross-functional meetings with Planning, Procurement, Operations, Quality, Logistics, and Program Management teams to gain exposure to end-to-end supply chain processes.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and assist in implementing solutions that improve planning efficiency, inventory management, supplier performance, and customer delivery results.

Education: Must be a current student pursuing degree in Supply Chain, Business, or similar

Compensation Range:

$21.00 USD. Many factors are considered in compensation decisions, including but not limited to skills, certifications, licensures, experience, training, incumbent data, and other business needs.
