Sweetwater Care is seeking a Special Education Teacher to educate elementary and/or secondary students with emotional impairments in a specialized program. You will develop annual classroom syllabi and create Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for each student, ensuring progress toward goals with ongoing collaboration among parents and staff.
You will supervise paraprofessional support staff, maintain records, and administer tests and grades in compliance with California regulations.
The Special Education Teacher teaches elementary and/or secondary school subjects to students with emotional impairments in specialized school programs. This position plans and prepares a comprehensive annual classroom syllabus. The Special Education Teacher meets with students, parents and staff to develop and administer an Individual Education Plan (IEP) for each assigned student and is responsible for achieving annual student classroom performance goals. This position supervises their assigned Paraprofessional Support Staff regarding daily classroom management of student behavior and academic work activities. The Special Education Teacher maintains records of student attendance, evaluates the student's classroom performance, administers student tests, and issues student grades in compliance with all applicable School districts, including but are not limited to California state regulatory requirements.
Must be able to work with emotionally and behaviorally disabled students.
A four-year College Degree from a fully accredited institution preferably in Education, Child Psychology, Math, Science, English, History, or Social Science is required. CTC Required. A Master’s Degree is highly desirable. Inters with CTC are encouraged to apply.
