Job summary

L3Harris Technologies, Inc. in Clifton, NJ invites applications for an Intern in Software Engineering. You will apply computer science and engineering concepts to develop software for embedded, real-time control of tactical radio equipment.

You’ll work with cross-functional teams across hardware and software interfaces and support the full SDLC. The role requires pursuing a BS, MS, or PhD in a related field and familiarity with languages such as C++, C#, C, Java, Ruby, and Python.

Qualifications

• Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, electrical engineering or related field.
• Strong interest in embedded software and real-time control systems is expected.
• Experience with multiple programming languages and embedded environments is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Apply CS, engineering and mathematical concepts to develop software for target applications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design interfaces between hardware and software.
• Support all phases of the software development life cycle for embedded real-time systems.
• Develop software tests and documentation; participate in peer reviews and defect repair.
• Use modeling tools to collect data, run experiments and evaluate results.
• Familiarity with Windows, Linux, and embedded RTOS across platforms.

Job Description:

• Apply computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis concepts and principles in the development of software for the target application
• Work closely with cross functional members of the engineering organization to develop and evaluate interfaces between hardware and software, and operational performance requirements and design of the overall system
• Support and participate in all phases of the software development life cycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, integration, and test of embedded software for real-time control of advanced tactical radio equipment
• Develop software test procedures, software programs, and related documentation
• Utilize modeling tools and equipment to establish operating data, conduct experimental tests, and evaluate results
• Participate in peer reviews, identify, track and repair defects
• Utilize a variety of software languages (i.e., C++, C#, C, Java, Ruby, HTML5, XML, SQL, Perl, Python, Ajax, Qt) on Windows, Linux, mobile platforms, and embedded real time operating systems (VxWorks, Linux, QNX, Integrity, Windows CE, and others for Motorola, Intel, TI, and custom processor designs)

Qualifications:

• Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree, a Master’s degree, or a PhD in computer science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Wireless Engineering, Information Security, Mathematics, Digital Arts & Sciences or related field at an accredited university.

PAY TRANSPARENCY:

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C, Denver, or NYC areas is $29 / hr - $53.50 / hr.This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
