Job description

Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all.

Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.

As an Intern with the Yield Technology RAM group at Micron, you will support process engineering, Real-Time Defect Analysis (RDA), and Metrology activities in a semiconductor manufacturing environment! This internship is designed for a motivated student who is interested in learning how advanced memory products are developed, measured, analyzed, and improved. You will work alongside engineers and technicians to gain hands‑on exposure to fab operations, equipment workflows, data analysis, recipe support, and cross-functional problem solving.

During this internship, you will gain exposure to semiconductor manufacturing, process development, defect analysis, metrology techniques, and data-driven problem solving. Intern assignments may include supporting recipe workflows, analyzing measurement or defect data, improving documentation, assisting with operational metrics, and contributing to a focused project that supports Yield Technology objectives. The ideal candidate is a curious, collaborative student who wants to learn and communicate ideas clearly. They will engage in significant technical work within a high-impact manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Complete assigned internship onboarding, safety training, certifications, and learning events to build foundational knowledge of Micron systems, fab operations, RDA, and Metrology workflows.
  • Support Fab 4 Process Development Engineering, Process Integration, RDA, and Metrology teams by assisting with data collection, basic analysis, tool support activities, and documentation.
  • Review workflows, measurement setup, and basic equipment/process support under the guidance of tenured engineers and technicians.
  • Provide supervised support for SEM, defect review, and incoming fab requests, including tracking request status, understanding queue priorities, and helping summarize results.
  • Assist with analysis and support for Fab 4 Yield Engineering part types, including DRAM and emerging memory development activities, as assigned.
  • Connect with engineers and team members regarding requests, priorities, observations, and follow-up actions in a clear and professional manner.
  • Contribute to an internship project employing Artificial Intelligence to identify and implement improvements in RDA, Metrology, process improvement, data analysis, automation, or recipe workflow support; summarize key findings and present project outcomes to the team.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Data Science, or a related technical field. Cannot graduate prior to September 2027.
  • Basic coursework or interest in semiconductor processing, manufacturing, materials characterization, metrology, defect analysis, or related technical areas.
  • Ability to approach technical problems with curiosity, ask questions, collect relevant information, and help develop data-based recommendations using AI proficiency or AI‑enabled ways of working where applicable.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools such as PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and OneNote; interest in learning data analysis, automation, and AI-enabled productivity tools.
  • Ability to work safely in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and follow all fab, cleanroom, quality, and safety requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time, and work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills, with the ability to summarize technical information clearly.
  • Experience, coursework, or project exposure related to semiconductor Metrology, RDA, SEM, data analysis, process control, statistics, Python, Claude, MATLAB, JMP, or Excel is preferred but not required.
  • A growth mindset, attention to detail, willingness to learn from mentors, and passion for solving technical challenges.
